Hi guys-
I am Ed, I live in VA and am now collecting parts to build a cyclekart.

http://www.cyclekarts.com/

Different than what you guys are building but alot of cross pollenation of parts, since pretty much all drivetrain/steering/axles on a cyclekart are all go kart stuff.

There's a lot of good info on this site.

:welcome2: atombikes..

yes cyclekarts are very nice, but be sure to make wise decision on what wheels to use
(best take the advice given at cyclekarts.. those honda wheels and hubs they talk about every now and then)

It's extremely critical to have enough strength in hubs, rims and spokes to safely corner a rather heavy, non tilting vehicle on narrow wheels like that.
So don't waste money on cheap parts there.

Good luck, and please keep us posted about progress and add lots of pics :D

Check out that guy! I like his builds and building style.
:welcome2:
Tell us more about you and what you can do.....
What parts is it you need help with?

Hi firemanjim- Yeah, that would be Dennis; his cyclekart fabrication is top notch. I've been observing his work for some time now and trying to learn.

I am looking for a good quality TC that will fit an engine with a 3/4 shaft (like a 212 predator), might be interested in something larger? Also need steering tie rods, throttle/brake stuff, steering wheel, that sort of stuff.

Welcome to the forum and please fill out your profile so we know where you are from.....

Thanks for the good advice. I have Honda CT90 front wheels which have been adapted for kart use by replacing the wheel bearings with bearings that will fit my spindles. For the rears, I have Honda CB125 wheels which are 3" wide rims, very stout.

Welcome to the forum!!

thanks!

For steering linkages/rods, go look at the for sale section... There is a thread specifically selling those.....new, on sale. But it was a while back. They may still have it on sale though, so give them a shout.
Now those aren't the best ones, but they are not bad... Pretty good for the money.
For the TC, the best is gonna be comet brand. Around $180-200..... For a new 30 series, which will handle up to like 9-10 hp, or something like that.... Then you got the generics..... I hear the GTC brand is pretty decent.
EDIT
What kinda brakes ya want? Disc? Hydraulic disc or manual disc? Drum and band?

For brakes, I am going to put either one or two on the rear live axle. No front brakes. Not sure the type of brake, I think alot of cyclekart guys use drums, but alot of motorized bicycle guys use a disc brake on a jackshaft and that seems to work well for them, so I may go that route (disc).

The CB125 came with drum brakes for most of it's life IIRC..
so with some additions made to the frame you could reuse those;
same for the CT90 drums on the front, if both are present, you can safely hook them up ;)

I just started checking those things out now that you brought it up and they are way cool! I think I may have to rethink my plans on weather or not to build a go kart or one of those. :mad2:
