Hey Friends. My kart is a relatively heavy two seater with 25x12x9 rear and 20x7x8 front tires. I will be using it off-road on sand and mud. I have a Honda GX 390. I am looking for suggestions on what torque converter you guys recommend as well as what sprockets and gear ratio I need to be running. Any advice or installation or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, that helps :lolgoku: NOT!

With the "big block" engine, you'll need a 40/44 series torque converter but, be prepared, IT'S GONNA COST YOU! (somewhere in the ballpark of $300-$400)

On those MASSIVE tyres, I suggest you don't go any higher than 8:1 (high number = low gear, etc)

My recommendation would be if you have the room and budget for it would be go with the 780 or the 94 series, you would get a lot wider gear ratio , Lot lower low range with a bit of overdrive on top. The 40/44 would work fine to you just have to keep your ratio low and your top speed will be in the 25 mph range

I have a GX390 running through a comet 40 series torque converter to 22" wheels, I've got mine set up to a 6:1 gear ratio with a 9 tooth jackshaft sprocket and 54 tooth axle sprocket, get about 50mph tops out of mine! Recommend this setup!
