I am replacing the Predator 212/30 Series TC on my Baja Blaster 65 & the 6.5 clone/MaxTorque TC on my Murray Kilowatt. I will be replacing them both with a DuroMax 16 Hp., 1'' Shaft, Recoil/Electric Start Engine and 40/44 Series TCs. That is my end goal, but my question arose when I went online to purchase the 40 Series TC. I know I will need a 1" & 3/4" combo so when I looked at the prices I see some at $150 to $300 and then some over $1,000.

Can anyone explain why this is the case? I am confused.
Thank you in advance for any light you can shine on this.

The 300$ ones are usually "genuine comet" which was the original manufacturer.
$1000 is just some douche selling the Chinese knock off at a bad price
$155 is the Chinese knock off.

Yep :) I'm not sure if the Chinese knock offs are good or bad. I haven't heard anything bad about them though.

I think I read on here that there is one of our members who will give a discount on new clutches. Might want to search some threads and give him a try. He makes some kind of winches I believe.
(edit) Supermannatorious is his screen name.

I gave Gran_Pann my seized up Comet 40 and bought a new Chinese knockoff for my Manco. I have had zero issues with it and love it.

:wai:I was on E-Bay and saw the post for the `1200$ TC. They claim that that the lower priced TC's are junk and that their TC is produced from superior materials.

LOL, ya... I am sure they will also claim that the materials are superior because pixies used dust to strengthen the metals =)

Bird,

I'm going to call Bull **** on this one, and here is why

http://www.amazon.com/DuroMax-Shaft...er=2&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=byRankDescending

all of the reviews are positive with the exception of 2

1) Steve -the same guy that made this video- posted a negative review on it. He has it on a work trailer which he likely dropped something on the tank, breaking the gas tank mounts. **** like that doesn't just break randomly. Maybe he over-torqued the bolts.

2) The other negative review is one posted by a complete dufus, dimwit, moron, or whatever you want to call him; someone who would blame his mother for his inability to tie his own shoes because she always did it for him. Typing in all caps is a clear indicator of his plight in life.

I'd rather believe the masses of people that gave it great reviews, than a moron and a guy that broke it.

Just expressing my opinion as I have never owned one.
