Hello everyone, just joining your forum here so I'll introduce myself quickly. I'm a 37yr old kid..... love anything with a motor and to tinker on them as well. So I would like some info on why my torque converter will not line back up with the clutch, we had removed it for a while and ran a chain there but would like to go back to belt seemed more responsive that way. Any help is appreciated.

Did it line up prior to removing it?

You could always use washers or bushings to move your driver out.

Id go through and clean both driver and driven up prior to use.

I'm looking at the length of the bolt in relation to the distance needed to align the two backplates; now, I realise that may not be the correct bolt but, if it is, perhaps there's a spacer missing form behind the driver...

Driver is on the engine (it drives the system), driven is the other part (because it's being driven)...

Didn't think I changed anything..... even thought maybe a spacer but then the clutch doesn't seem to get on there far enough, also the bolt that's there doesn't screw all the way in (that's as far as it goes see pic) so something must be missing. Does anyone have a similar set up? Thanks Axx for ref pic, but I think that's the way I have it installed now

Thanks Fabroman, that's the correct bolt so something must be missing, but I'm so picky about how I put things away I just find it hard to believe I lost it, also the clutch doesn't seem like it would be attached to much of the driver if a spacer was used?

I have 2 spacer's on my series 30 driver on my Dingo.. It doesn't have a lot of shaft but it has enough and it works. Doesn't look like you have any wiggle room with the driven. It looks like the correct bolt if you have spacers. Try to slide the driver out to the end of the bolt and see if it lines up with the driven.

Im using 2 of these..

just in case it's not my astigmatism, then your jackshaft is bent;
which is why the driven isn't parallel to the engine.
that MUST be fixed, or you'll burn belts like gasoline.

Also why is the jackshaft plate not bolted down?
as long as it's not it will wander off and all alignment is gone ;)

Sid, there is 6 bolt holes in that unit. 4 through the engine mounting holes. No need for the last 2 ......
OP, you're missing a spacer, as stated. I had to use 5 1/8" washers with a 3/4" ID ,to get the right spacing. That bolt will probably should, derived up,when the clutch is spaced out like it should be. It's not going to sit completely on the engine shaft. You will have a lot of over hang, hence the long bolt.....

It's not bolted because we're working on it, I think Axx is on the right track with the spacers. Don't think the jackshaft is bent. Just think I've misplaced a spacer somewhere going outside now to check it out. Thanks to everyone for the advice and welcome wagon. :cheers2:

I... Don't think the jackshaft is bent. ....

Maybe you're right, but it's certainly not parallel to the PTO.
I added a few lines to show what I mean..
20140923_LINES.jpg

See how the driven is not parallel between the two parallel lines I drew?
(notice the two smaller lines on the moveable sheave of the driven)

*shrugs*
could be your camera.. but I'd check that just to be sure ;)
