So my father used to know some people at the college down the street. That run the automotive section and they have a dyno so I am going to contact them and see if I can get the ball rolling on putting this beast on the dyno.

I haven't really been paying too much attention to the posts of your "kart", but I reckon the tires are too small to register well with the regular Car dyno, as the drum has to have a certain tire size to gauge speed and other factors......
You knew that though right, and this was a useless post(mine that is ;) ).....

Oh congrats on your spelling/grammar/punctuation, looking a bit better, at least I could understand this thread.

I'm not too sure mckutzy..

while it is true that dual roller dynos need a certain circumference to make good contact, the amount needed is fairly small (I'd seen vespa scooters using dual roller dynos with tiny little wheels and huge success ;))

single rollers need a good fixation of the car/kart/scooter/bike/wheelbarrow...

The speed and torque and power ratings are 100% independent of the wheelsize etc., since dynos in fact does not measure the car/kart/sc...;) but the acceleration of the roller
knowing the exact mass of said roller and it's diameter all calculations are only based on it's dimensions alone.

speed as well as HP and torque.. rpm is read from a tach signal of course..
so the only question would be, can it be set up for a single cylinder engine
but I bet it can ;)

I'm not sure if there are dynos that work different than that at all.. if there are.. I'm sorry ..

Alex, you are correct about the basics of a chassis dyno; there are many permutations though, and I quit worrying about them a while ago just because I'm fairly certain that I'll never have anything that needs to be checked by one.

There are other types though; one's for testing an engine out of a vehicle, one's for testing stationary power, such as the PTO output of a farm tractor, mobile tractive types for measuring drawbar power, etc.

 :cheers2:

Young men in skinny pants always make Doug all fuzzy inside...
I don't think counseling would change that ;)

If I remember when I was little my fathers car being on both the single roller kind and the dual roller. With it being a college do you think they have the right stuff to test my kart?
