Hey everyone, I am new to karts and I have a Trailmaster XRX150. The problem is, it is blowing a small spray of oil out of the back air vent of the clutch cover. It appears the spray is coming off of the clutch itself. Is this common? I haven't taken the cover off yet to check anything due to not knowing much about this problem. I know there are two oil seals, one under variator and the other under the clutch itself. Please help if anyone knows about this problem, or if it is a problem. I am not sure if maybe it is due to overfilling the oil. I did slightly overfill the oil after my first oil change and was thinking maybe this is just residual from that. Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

That's a definite possibility; have you changed the oil since then?

For future reference, we like photos (pics), a picture tells a thousand words so, if you can include some with questions such as this, it makes life so much easier

I pulled the variator and noticed a screw was missing off of the plate in back. The screw was found under the clutch. I tried to replace screw and it was stripped. I purchased new screw and replaced. I am hoping this was the cause of the oil being inside housing. I broke my gasket on cover, so waiting for one to come in mail. I have replaced oil since overfilling but not sure if what was inside was residual. Also I looked at seal on crankshaft and it appeared to be leak free. So either its the seal behind clutch or the missing screw, or overfilling! My guess is the missing screw due to the fact the problem was getting worse! Thanks for all of your replies!

Problem solved!!!

Thanks everyone!!! My problem with oil is solved. After putting cvt cover back on and cleaning airbox, I have had no issues with oil. One thing I did to help with the oil in airbox was to put a gas filter on the vent line going into the box. Just as the line came from the motor I connected the filter. The filter is mounted vertical and works great!!! I had noticed a very small amount of oil still getting into the airbox...so this is why I installed the filter. The oil level in the motor was exactly as called for but like I said a small amount of oil was making it to box. With the gas line filter in place there is no oil!!! I about this on another thread and it does work! Again I thank everyone for their feedback!!!!

Thanks
Rick
