Was wondering what model of yerf dog this is??

The motor is out on this yerf dog and I was wondering if the motor from harbor freight will work but im not sure of the model # any help would be great and thanks for all that give answers.

Yes you can get the 212cc predator engine it will bolt on in the same spot. Some have complained that the engine has a shorter shaft(vs briggs or Tecumseh) but it will still work.

The motor has a real loud knocking and clanging in it. Its real bad and it has a few other issues. Thanks guys for the info.

The yerfdog looks like early 90s but I'm a beginner. I've got a 2006-2008 (not 100% sure which) and there are several differences between mine and yours. I just put the 6.5hp predator on mine and there is quite a bit of work involved, but if you're handy or willing to learn, it isn't that bad. The shaft on the predator was shorter than on the tecumseh that was original to mine but the comet 30 still worked, I just had to get a longer bolt for the driver. The positioning was also a little different so I had to go up a size in belts. You may be able to move your engine around a little to alleviate that but it could affect your chain drive.
That engine you have on there is possibly not the original. Yerfs seem to be fairly consumer friendly which basically boils down to more housings for everything and yours doesn't seem to have any, but again these are just my observations from researching mine. I like your front steering setup better than mine. I have virtually no clearance when turning. I have the turning radius of a 1942 Ford tractor.
Boy they run good when you get them going though. That 6.5hp predator is quite a powerful little engine with that sprocket setup. Have fun!

The engine will not crank over now tried it yesterday. Well going to go get the predator this afternoon and hope all goes well lol. I have my little boy helping me he wants to try to change it all out. He is only 9 and he pulled the old one off yesterday with just a little help.

That's impressive. My 8 year old wants to help me but I can't figure out what he can do to help. It's not terribly easy for me. When I need small hands I'll ask him to help me or help getting tools or to hold something in place. He wants to do more though.

Ok guys another quick question on the throttle link do I need to hook up any springs anywhere? If so does anybody have a pic?

On mine, I added a spring from the throttle linkage to the exhaust cover. Kind of like the picture but under the air cleaner.

Come to find out that is not the issue lol here is my problem every time I push the gas the bottom is not grabbing to pull. and I still cant get it to pull.

Put a small clamp on the rod between the set screw clamps thats what i had to do on my daughters
