Was up guys...... got a new toy that needs some work so maybe you can give me a few pointers and some ideas for this kart. I have a yerf dog spider box. Dont know the year yet but maybe some here can tell me that. Got it off criegslist for 200 and its not in bad shape other than the floor pan and swing arm. Theres a peace on the swing arm that the guy sed he cut cus of rust so I got some tubing for that but the other thing is that the floor bord is rusty....got some rust holes but the frame is still strong. I have some stainless steel for the floor pan. So thats what I got going on right now and I will have some pics up tomorrow as soon as the sun comes out... does anyone no where to get parts for these karts....

Not to state the obvious but :useless:

IIRC, BMI have an extensive range of yerf dog parts...

You'll need to add tabe to the frame to attach the SS floor, I'm pretty sure you can't weld SS to mild steel...

You dont think the ss can be welded to the frame?

Not unless the frame is SS... which I doubt...

The properties of stainless steel are different to those of mild steel, it's much harder, denser; by the time the SS gets hot enough to weld efficiently, the MS will have disintegrated under the same heat...

Not to mention, what would you use as filler, MS or SS?

Stainless can be welded to regular steel. You just have to have the right welding equipment, filler rod, gas shield, and know-how.

I made my entïre mobile welding table from stainless angle, angled steel, and some steel tubing. I used a flux core mig with .35 wire.
The SS was pretty HD, but I just concentrated most of my heat on the SS angle.
