I have a Manco Dingo with mechanical disk breaks. I got some replacement pads for the mechanical disc breaks. But I cant for the life of me find info on how to install them. Do the pads really just sit inside the break hubs, on top of that little metal plate? No type of adhesive or anything to keep them there?

The only way they would seem to stay on is if they were basically always touching the disc break as I rode the kart or else if they had to much of a gap they would just fall out. I read some info on bedding the breaks, but that seems more for optimal performance of said pads.

Any help would be great!

Yes, the one side is just sitting there on its shoe plate. The other needs to be epoxied to the caliper half.
You will have to separate the halves to change the pads.
If one pad is wearing more than the other, there might be something wrong with the setup, the caliper needs to float.

Oh and it's brakes...

LOL, yes, it is brakes. I know very little mechanics so not really used to talking about them :p

This is a total rebuild of a kart I got at a yard sale, so I am totally new to this. When I tore the old BRAKES apart the old pads just fell out, nothing holding them there, either one. I guess it just seems odd that one gets epoxied in while the other just sits there on the shoe. Does it get epoxied to the shoe? And what kind of epoxy should I use for this? Im used to working with JB, Devon 5min epoxies.

Thanks for the reply!

So to clarify, there should be only one(1) pad free floating on the shoe plate, that is on the actuation side.

I think 5 min epoxy will be fine(i think), how ever the epoxy, the surfaces need to be clean and roughened. The pads need to be sanded aswell as the caliper thumb. Use some brake cleaner to remove all grease/oils after sanding, wear a mask as brakes are really bad with the dust aswell as the fumes from the cleaner.
