http://www.doverpoweronlinestore.com/index.html

... yours is a 'clone'.

Yeah I know the predator is a clone, I had 2 of them. One of my gokarts got stolen, so i am just modding my other one now.Ive just never worked on gokart engines really, im more of a welder/ car guy. So i just didn't know where to get parts(safely)

By any chance do you know what choice of jet would be better? .36 or .37? Carbs aren't my thing, I was born in the era of fuel injection haha.

It honestly all depends... the temp/environment/lead in the foot... I personally have a .35 jet(self ported)... so try a .36. you havent filled out your profile... so I/we have no idea where you are, to suggest/compare anything to someone else of relevance to your setup in your area. But I suggest you get a high flow intake/exhaust or your asking for issues(gotta let the motor be able to breath in/out if your gonna feed it more fuel).

A year ago... I never opened/worked on a small motor... in December, I got this motor on this kart... http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showpost.php?p=298722&postcount=18
That same motor now runs my main kart n pushes 10-11hp for right at 100$ n some junk shiney things as well as some paint... http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showpost.php?p=306430&postcount=91

Regarding the jetting, there are a lot of variables as Half-Breeder suggests, including altitude. You really have two courses of action as far as I am concerned. One- buy a couple of extra jets in the same size range, and experiment with them until you find the right mixture, or do what I do- purchase a pin vise (precision or jeweller's drill) and a set of numbered (precision) drill bits to go with it. I drill my own jets on a regular basis, and once you've got the idea, it's pretty painless.

It's not half as expensive as it sounds. You can pick up a pin vise and a set of numbered bits (#61-#80) online for under $20.

With a warm engine and a clean plug do a long pass at WOT. Shut it down immediately and carefully (HOT) remove the plug. Look at the ceramic insulator surrounding the plug tip. Bone white or very light, you're too lean. Drain carb and pull the jet. Use the shank end of the drill bits to determine current jet size. Select the next larger bit, and drill the jet. Reinstall everything, and test again.

You want a good tan to chocolate brown on the plug insulator. If it's really dark or even black, you've gone too far, but alas, you're not dead. You can solder the jet orifice closed with a plumber's torch and redrill a smaller orifice.

When testing and drilling, go up only one drill size at a time. I have soldered a few and started over, but it's a process you're better off skipping.

I really have no one else around me who is into go karts, so I normally just have fun/have to learn on my own. Thanks for the help and responses guys.
