Hi, my first post, I put a 150cc Lifan engine in my mini trail, wow, the thing runs way too hot, pulled carb apart and made sure all jets and circuits have no blockage, everything okay there, it's a brand new engine, anyone have any experience with these engines, there is a low speed adjust screw for mixture, don't know if it cuts air, or cuts fuel, it points down and is towards the front of the carb

3x bigger engine displacement.... yeaaah!

What do you mean it runs hot? Like the engine temperature? RPMS? I thought those little engines had a CDI that limited the rpms that comes stock with the engine (not the racing CDI).

Maybe its just you not being used to 3x the power?

thanks, running hot as temp, my exhaust pipe even turns red, plug has absolutely no tan or brown on it, don't want to ruin a new engine, have not even put it in gear, this is just a few minutes running at a time on the bench (engine is in frame)

Is the airfilter installed?

Normally any mixture adjustment on the carburettor is for the metering of the fuel.
Could you post pictures of your carburettor?
Do you know the model# of you Lifan engine?

Stock Lifan exhaust? If not, then the most likely problem is that your current exhaust is too restrictive and holding back too much flow. Try changing up your exhaust system and your problem should go away.....
