Hello,
Have you guys heard of Longevity? I have been looking for a AC/DC Tig welder and everyone was telling me to look into Miller and Everlast. But, I came across Longevity. They are cheaper and in my budget. I think I'm going to purchase their Tigweld 200sx. What do you guys think?
Free shipping, free welding helmet, and welding cart.

If you aren't going to use it much, then buy a cheap one. If you plan on keeping it longer than 2-3 years, then buy a miller or a lincoln.

Try looking up your welder in mind on e-bay, used. One of the reasons I was convinced to buy a miller was that when i looked up used millers, I found really old WORKING miller welders. When I looked up used Chinese/off-brand welders i found really new, FOR PARTS/BROKEN welders.

Also try looking at HTP, just another option out there.

Definitely go with the best you can afford. Even buying a smaller Miller or Hobart will be better than a larger import welder. I've saw a Hobart 165A tig new for ~1300. Save up and get something that will actually last.

Or if your really cheap...

EDIT: Just thought I'd mention that Hobart was bought by Miller so they are basically the same machine. Chev vs GM type of thing.

I have never heard of that make. Have you googled it at all?

Yes i did and I actually called them and spoke with them, They were very nice on the phone, answered all the questions I had.
They mentioned they are having a special right now which I am going to look into, but I am also going to check on craigslist or ebay for some other models

Not so fast!

The older models are all typically transformer type TIG welders that require a very healthy energy source. They hum along properly match with a 50-60amp breaker and accordingly matched wire gauged for the application. The transformer style welders are very large, very heavy, and as I mentioned, suck up a lot of juice. They are also not nearly as adjustable as the new inverter TIG machines that are the common type today. They are limited in regard to frequency and balance and many older machines require a separate pulse modulator box for using pulse TIG.

The new inverter style TIG machines weigh a tenth as much as the old machines, are a tenth the size, and are extremely efficient in terms of power consumption. The features are more abundant, and the digital features are generally pretty awesome.

Not only that, with companies like Longevity, Everlast and ThermalArc, you can get the features of a $3,000 Miller TIG machine for less than half the price. I own an Everlast 200DX, got it for $800 barely used, and other than the lackluster 26-series torch and the bulky foot pedal it's supplied with, I can't see myself needing much more, when considering that an equivalent Miller is more than double the price. 200 amps, pulse, SMAW/TIG functions, up/down slope etc etc etc etc.

Sure, it's still not a Miller or a Lincoln. But even the Chinese LED light bars have been coming around in quality - and are you honestly going to tell me the circuit boards on the Millers aren't China made? (AFAIK, anyway.)
