Hello everyone,
Well, I've been fooling with small engines, big engines and stuff for a long time but this is my first go kart. I'm trying to get my 9 year old to look at something besides a video game. I picked this up for what i consider a good deal but am curious as to what I have before I do much. Here are some pics-

The engine is a tecumseh ohh50 from the 90's I think, carb was too far gone to rescue but otherwise everything checks out pretty good to me.
Thanks!

Alright, now just kinda curious as to what this originally was but I think I have figured out some specs to go from....
Engine is a OHH50. The spark plug had 0 gap but looked fine. I gapped it to .030 and put it back. The valves were a little off so I set them both at .004 @1/4" past TDC. The ignition air gap was fine but everything was quite rusty so I cleaned it up.
The sprocket on the engine is a 10 tooth. I counted the teeth on the driven sprocket and I think there were 56 (I forgot from the other day). If I read how to measure right, it is a #40/41 pitch chain.
First time with one of these things so I have no idea if the clutch is fine or not....the thing runs and drives.
The carburetor was too far gone. I ordered a new one -minus the primer +a choke. I changed the oil, washed out the gas tank and this thing fired right up and runs like a top.
The kill switch doesn't work but that should be an easy find/fix. I will need to replace some tires soon, tackle some rust and this should be a fun little thing. My 2 year old loves it and my 9 year old is warming up to it nicely. With that one driven wheel it will throw rocks all the way up and down my driveway.....cool as a guy but not as cool as a homeowner :)
Oh, yes, the pull starter was missing but the cup is there. I can wrap a rope around the cup and it pull starts fine until I find a cheap starter. In a pinch I have put the drill to it to spin it over but with the new carb the rope works fine.

Thats a manco for sure. Not sure which model but you can look up the manuals for all of the models here

http://www.americansportworks.com/manuals_model-list.php

Also, try sliding the seat back and look on the floor pan below the steering wheel. It should (if it hasn't peeled off) have the model and serial number on a little decal there.

Wow- I don't know karts too well yet but I would have said anything but a Manco. Nothing on that kart looks Manco to me except the color. But I'm still learning. ..

Thanks for the tip on looking under the seat. Cant believe that sticker was still there. USA INDUSTRIES, INC. 026661. I see they have been discussed on here before and I am satisfied as to 'how this kart was born'. Now time to take it apart :)

Ah.. now I know why it looks familiar somehow...

USA industries is the maker of that kart the company is long gone though (read above).

Oh and the model name is COBRA (if you look carefully you can still read it on the decal)
[the blue part is the torso, the font face is/was white; all upper case]
