I hate not working outside on my stuff when the weather sucks. My limited shop size makes me usually work outside my garage door.
The size of my shop is only 9x8 with a open work space of 5x7.

Now for the winter i will be doing 2n-scale train layouts. One 2'x4' that my granddaughter can play with and a bigger 32x72 for me.

Hopefully i wont go bonkers.

What do you guys do in winter

:surrender::surrender: Due to the price of kerosine, I'm basically in semi hibernation mode; I'm actually thinking of moving part of my unheated workshop into the heated & AC'ed basement....

A little history; the main farm shop my Dad, my brother, and I built over a three year period back in the mid 1980's. It took that long because we were buying the material cash on the barrel head as we went along. The smaller building I rehabbed for my first personal shop has an even more storied life, but it's a rehab job with no insulation or heat either. Then, about 8 yrs ago, I finally took the plunge and replaced my early 1970's mobile home with the modular I have now...

I just have to make sure the insurance company doesn't notice...:surrender::surrender::surrender::oops:

:cheers2::thumbsup::popcorn: Pat

I usually post up on forums and make a general pest out of myself. Like the rest of the vermin, I seek out warmth- and go indoors and make civilized people miserable.

The weather is usually rather moderate around here, summer is usually worse for working outside than winter; it's rare for the mercury to drop to 0°C in winter but quite common to hit the mid to high 30s or low 40s in summer

I'll second that - I wish our A/C was ducted into the garage also!

Today is pleasant, 25 degrees and cloudy, still a bit too humid though..

I've taken time off until Jan 6th. This morning I'm impatiently pacing around waiting for a call from the bearing supplier to say my sprocket has arrived - it's coming via airfreight from Melbourne. THEN THE KART WILL BE FINISHED FINALLY!!!

:funnypost::lolgoku: What flavor d-Con do you prefer?:devil2::stir:

Doesn't matter- whatever, it won't kill me, I'll just just convert it to little cylinders and leave them in your silverware drawer.....

And BTW, I really like the new mouse traps....cool looking plastic cheese looking platforms I can practice my break dancing moves on and they're stable up to a 3.5 earthquake. ...

:wai: My shop is heated with a 120,000 btu gun type fuel oil furnance. With fuel oil around 4$ a gallon and very little work for the shop, except for a few snow blowers. and a few kart engines to freshen up. The lawn tractors waiting to be repaired can wait until spring. I can not justify buying 200 gallons to get thru the winter. I am working on the bucket list for inside the house to keep the Warden (Wife) off my rear. Although on nice days 40 degrees and sunny which are few and far between, I do go down to the shop and do a little work. Mainly maintenance own my own equipment.

Ha

Bugger that
Yea
Never really gets cold here
The sea is 4km south
And the deasert is 150km north
So that controll sour climate
And all the weather systems are forced though our gap

Only once every 4 years or is it'll get below freezing
But it rains a lot and is very windy
Anything below 20kph wind is calm
And when the wind turns north the temp rises well above 35

I took my infrared temp gun to the gravel outside the shed and it was 70*c

But because it's either cold from the sea or hot from the desert
It's either cold and wet or hot and very dry

We have a dead cyclone coming though tomorrow
So no beach on New Year's Day
Shame

May be hard to work in freezing contions
But try walking 10km carrying 30kg of gear
In 40*c 7% humidity 45 km north wind

That's fencing in summer in aus

As for winter
That's we try to plan all the big jobs that require long times outside

It's not a cyclone any more

But as I said all weather gets forced though our bit of land so it just gets compressed into a huge rain storm

No wind or anything
