Its an American thing, more popular here because we are populated mainly by COMPLETE morons, half of whom have never seen a clutch pedal.

I said MAINLY there are a few exceptions but most people you see in this country can barely drive, and Michigan has the strictest drivers ed program in the country!

double clutching is a cliche, it's not even nescessary on modern trannys

Hehe, double clutching is awesome, do it on every down change. I learned to drive on a POS Daihatsu, whatever preceeded the Rocky. It had the accelerator pump removed ("it used too much fuel" ut: ), the handbrake removed, the horn disconnected, and the entire top half removed with a 9" angle grinder to fit a couch (sofa for you yanks) for shooting wild pigs!. Was good until I learned that it could do donuts... and the next time I visited it ALL of the water had migrated into the sump.
