Hey guys, I'm starting a father son project go kart rebuild with my two boys. Trying to post pics as we go through the stages. The go kart frame I picked up was an old Yellow Jacket go kart frame. We're stripping it down, and going to start primer/paint on it pretty soon.
Hopefully the pics I've posted show up in the correct order.

I have to say that stripping the old paint off is one heck of a task. I'm ready to start the primer on this bad boy.

Thanks man....we're done with the sanding. We washed it off and cleaned the frame yesterday. This weekend we are going to start the primer and paint. I was going to rebuild the old Tecumseh engine that was on it, but decided to put a new motor on instead. This bad boy is going to get new tires, new engine, new steering wheel.
I'm going to save the old Tecumseh engine and use it on another go kart i have for my self. I'll post some more pics this weekend.

Primer and Paint Completed.

Ok So we did the Primer and paint this weekend, and talk about getting it done in perfect timing. Because after the paint we let set for 3 hours and then it started to rain. Not 2 minutes after we got everything back in the garage, it started raining. LOL

Now we just have to attach the roll bars. It's getting a new Seat
Motor
Tires and
Steering Wheel
Have to wait for more funds LOL...

My apologies guys, those are just double pics. The first two were just after we did the primer, and the last two were after we painted red.

Here it is almost in it's final stages. Just have to order a new seat seeing as to how the one we were going to put on has a hole in the bottom of it, so it would be unsafe to use. Then throw on the tires and motor, and make sure the roll cage is on tight. That blue Go Cart you see over to the right is the other one I'm working on.

I was thinking of selling it and getting a two seater. But I'll see what I want to do after I'm done with it.

I have a question if someone could help me with. The motor I'm thinking of getting is a predator engine from

Has anyone had any experience with this motor?
Is it a good motor? If not could you recommend a good motor, that's resonably priced? Like in the low $100's LOL. I know that maybe asking alot.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

^+1 on that. Predator 212's are the "go to" engines for small karts/mini bikes. Love mine. Totally reliable, plenty of power, overhead valves, many performance parts available, and best of all.... it's cheap! There's always a coupon floating around to get it for $99 at Harbor Freight.

I'd be going for a Predator bought in store. The ones in that link are returns & they wouldn't have been returned if they were in perfect working order.

Also, once you add freight, it'll probably be cheaper to drive to your local HF with a coupon

Hey thanks greatly for your advice, and I think I will check out HF. With shipping it comes out to $35 dollars, so it would be better to pick it up at HF and it'll be a brand new one. My local HF has it for $119, brand new. Thanks again.
