It should work, but the best steel to use is mild steel square tubing

Me too,
I used 25x25x2 for my frame.
I used angle iron in a few places: engine mount, trans mount, support for front axle and clutch mount ( it's a tensioner clutch).

Why on earth didn't you just say "Hey, I've got access to a bunch of angle iron in the form of shelving- can I make a frame with this"?

You might want to stay to your own topic. We're talking about the potential use of angle as a framing material. So will angle work, or will you need a bigger engine? Hmmm. No. Different paint.
