apologies if this has been asked already...I need to weld some aluminum with my Hobart Handler 190...

I have a separate spool gun, but only have a bottle of Tri-gas for shielding...

can I use my try-gas for a small project? don't want to invest in a complete aluminum setup just yet

Straight Argon, Argon/Helium mix, or straight Helium. Any gas mix that has CO2 will not work. As for if your machine can run it, your owners manual should be able to walk you thru it. Also check the welder itself; many machines have the cross reference/ setup chart duplicated inside the lid for where the spool of wire goes. You might hit Miller/Hobart's website; many mfr's are posting the owners/operators manuals online for easy reference.

Hope this helps!!:thumbsup::cheers2::popcorn:
