Hello DIY,
I have finished m Electric skateboard for the most part, i have decided to post on this side of the forums to hopefully get a bit more traffic on the subject. here is the link to the original project thread http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=21887

Not posting here to brag about a second finshed project, im here to ask for help on two fronts.

One) The chassis for the skateboard is from a citybug scooter as far as i have been informed and researched this thing can go up to 25 miles/hour with a 200 pound dude on it. I barely break 160 and have not been able to get it past maybe 5 MPH tops. so wht could be the problem here?

Two) i need to figure out how to better my turning radious, if you follow the link above for my original post you can see that i used the trucks from a dirt-deville mountain board. i used everything in the trucks except for the wheels because they all ended up being ripped down the center so i had to use the extra wheels from my gokart project. All in i do not have the turning radius i need, anyone know anything i can do?

All the specs should be somewhere on the pictures and id be happy to answer any questions. for now i have a 200$ investment in scrap metal sitting in the garage...

It's a sick looking board!

On your first problem (getting above 5mph).. First place I would look is testing the tension on the belt.. Is the tension on belt enough to prevent slipping with 160lbs and as the speed increases? 2nd thing I would look at is the bearings (maybe some grease if you haven't already)

Also look at your throttle cable and see about adjusting it .. At 5mph though, you should hear more motor and not enough pull, which makes me think it has something to do with the belt drive.

Once again, it's a unique ride.. Love it

Ok lets go point by point. The belt has absolutely no slippage. so maybe the problem can be that the belt is too tight?

Also the wheels are nice a greased up and those are the same i use for my gokart so they have no issue getting up to speed.

On the throttle I might note that it is an electronic throttle so there is no cable per say, and it works just fine with no weight on the board

You do have the batteries wired in series, right? If they're parallel, you're only giving 12v to the 24v controller.
