Man thats the kart for you, Don't let ugly green paint turn you away from this. tires look ok and a live axle. Offer him $150, and take $175 with you. I bet you come home with it. those fun power engines are a good reliable engine, that are easy to work on.

i like the cart, but from the description, the seller sounds really stupid and sketchy. I dont know if i want to to go to this dudes place if he thinks paint comes off when going 30 mph.

"I have a cool old vintage 2 seat go Kart with a 5hp engine for sale. It has been repainted from red to green but its so fast some of the green paint just could not continue to hold on and has blown off. It has some really cool racing numbers on the side and may have at one time served as a practice car for Jeff Gordon but that's just a guess. The rear axle is solid so the motor drives both rear wheels. The tires are racing slicks, further evidence of its historic racing history. For driver comfort the seat has been recovered in a designer green vinyl and a headrest has been added that appears to have come from a BMW 325. This Kart was for sale broken last month but I have since fixed the yanker and its up and running again. Ill take 200 cash for it or something close to it or will always consider a trade of anything with a motor and wheels. Oh, and im afraid its not street legal and I have no title so it is sold as is on a bill of sale. 214-two eight two-6420"

Sounds to me like he's trying to have a little fun with it. Give him a call bet he's easy to deal with. I place adds like that and it gets a good response.

I agree. I think he's just trying to be cute, and maybe get a laugh out of you. I'd check it out. He//, I'll give stupid people my money too, as long as they have what I want at a price I'm willing to pay...

What's up with the $30 go kart? Get that one if it's really $30. My guess is he's missed a zero in there!

sounds a bit too good to be true. In the video, the wheels are spinning while the engine is idling. It has a torque converter, and the wheels should not turn when the engine is idling true?

Yes, which I suppose could be a fairly sinister TC problem, but I'd say it's more than likely the idle is simply a little high and so it's half engaging the clutch.

This is both funny and sad; you are looking for finds for him in his home town, while you live in the opposite hemisphere and half way around the globe......

I'd rather take a few minutes to find him a decent kart than see him kill himself on the one he's building...

Sorry Pat, did I do something wrong

I thought the same thing but, the I realised, the engine isn't idling...

Well, after hours of craigslist searching, i have narrowed down to a couple of them. Tell me what you guys think. I would really not want to spend more than $200.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/for/3823831561.html - this one sounds good, but is a bit too far away.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/mcy/3829038518.html

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/for/3840982216.html - this one is fairly close, but idk if a 3 horse engine will be enough?

http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/for/3830834131.html

these are what i have found of interest so far. I am still looking.
But, i want to hear what YOU guys would buy. (pretend you are on a $200 budget to get a kart)

One runs and one doesnt. One has a roll cage and the other doesnt. The one with the roll cage has new tires, a chain an clutch

What happened to all the others? A lot of the others you posted (not to mention the ones I posted) seem better than those two...
