And... continuing on with the saga of the 4 kart rods...

I decided to change something with ole "sarge" here.

It's not that I didn't like the motor, not at all. It's just that something wasn't right.

So, off with the Briggs flathead and on with an idea.

Earlier I'd entered the build off with a mini bike project... and that's still on... but the mini bike will be getting the Briggs flathead... and the sarge here will use the motor intended for the minibike project.

So, Imagine that, I changed my mind.

Having a love for the industrial twist on things... I thought i'd try something...

New briggs, OD green paint... old Briggs muffler... and tecumseh air filter thingy... and you end up with what looks like a gas mask for an engine.

He l l yes.

LOL

When are you thinking? This Saturday is Race day at Millers so that day is out, how are you for Sunday? I'm sure we'll get there.

Sure wish there were more like us.

p.s. I'm scouting for a place closer btw. You up for a GSL shore line run? (great salt lake)

Sundays are always good for me call me to make sure I have friends that are building karts to race with us they are in the process and are stoked to do it we will get this going I know alot of perfect places that are so much fun did you check out my last video? I took some 5 gallon jugs out and made a track but some of the jugs kept blowing away so I was able to keep three of them up next time I will put some water in them the wind was blowing about 20 mph we can make a giant course there it will be fun when we are ready I am here to tell ya these guys are in and they are going to do it I was thinking about doing an endurance race say 1-2 hours on a long course and have a home check point that one has to stop and have a card on their cart that has to be punched each time at that check and after the time limit is up the guy that has the most punches on the card first wins what do you think about that concept? We would have a fuel pit after the home check point sound fun?:idea2:

How are we gonna make this somewhat equal? I mean, you're running some 20+HP engine and my sad little 4 Popper probably won't have a chance unless I sneak up on ya & tie an anvil to you or something, then again, if your kart weighs in around 400 pounds.... then it might be equal.

I saw your video and it looks great.

What kind of karts are your friends building? I'm curious.

I'm for all kinds of things really, just wanna get out & do some old school racing, do some great videos and some concept photography... I"m an artist and I've got a guy that wants to help me do a web/commercial about the kart rod racing. Serious.

That is why we need to have classes dont you have any friends with karts like yours? We could all run at the same time my friends have single cylinder snowmobile engines that they are going to use so the class we are going to be in will have one gear ratio,One spark plug,One rear brake,One inch rear axle. They are copying my frame design not saying that it is the best and they do not weigh 400lbs lol!!!

Well, that's the thing. I have yet to find one person that's even willing to try.

Sure, neighborhood teens do the "OOOOOOO" & "AAAAAAAAH" thing but they're all chicken-s____ and have Zero Drive to do anything.

I have run into a few people but the sad truth is, there's very few folks these days that are willing to get off their butts & do anything that involves more than a trip to the fridge & back to the man chair.

I've advertised, I take them wherever I can, etc. There's a few bites here & there but as I said, it's just sad how unmotivated most folks are. Not like it's all that hard really... spend 200 bucks on some stuff, strap half a plastic garbage can on the front, name it, spray paint it,pull it & go.

But nope. I have no friends with karts like mine. I'm alone. The soul defender of justice in these parts. :(

No worries though, I'm having fun and that's all that really matters to me.

Guess I'm gonna have to get all dramatic and get a cop to chase me through a news channel building with my fuel tank on fire or something... MUA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!

I guess when I do find someone that wants to do it, we'll then do the 4 stroke class as I've outlined on my site. Very simple rules too, although a bit different.

More soon...

I know what you mean a kart is an excellent way for people to learn about making things with your own hands and or modifying and making them better and one could learn alot about engines and geometry and fabrication and so on plus they are fun why don't we go and burn around the desert one day anyway and have some fun we can trade off driving each others karts I would like to take a look at your karts I think they are cool and indeed you are artistic with your designs and vision my friends are serious about building their own karts and they are in the process of building them one is done and three others are in the making and we have more people interested.

Yea, I shouldn't complain. It's cool to have someone around here at least that wants to drive.

I'm sure the "rodders" will come out of the woodwork someday.

In the meantime, on we go.
