Help!! shorted speed controller

I accidently shorted the speed controller for my kids 36v go kart when the neg and pos wire touched each other for the connecters to the motor. Now the go kart won't move. I can still heard the speed controller switching when I shift the forward and reverse shifter. The output voltage for motor/power connect starts out at 36v then kept dropping till it reaches 12v~18v. When I press the gas petal, the voltage doesn't go up. Is my controller toasted or is there away to reset it?

There should be a circuit breaker on your go kart. Normally it's a tiny small box which normally has a momentary switch. Either press that or hold it for 10 seconds or so.

The circuit breaker cuts power totally not partially. Moe than likely it blown. What kind of kart is it or is it custom.
