Hello everyone I have a 346cc Predator engine from harbor freight. It is brand new and has only been run about 2.5 hours. It runs ok but feels like it is bogging down when you give it the gas the accelerate. I was wondering what all is required to install better air intake system and maybe rejet the carb to try and boost the performance. Any help is appreciated.

Watch out TS hates when people say just get a new one without trying to fix it!
Not so! If the engine is still under warranty, and the purchaser did not tamper with it (and therefore void the warranty), then by all means, return it! I am a firm believer in the warranty system. You paid for a new, perfect item, you deserve one! This is why I asked if it has always behaved this way, as the OP stated it was pretty new.

Now, on the other hand- If it's an old engine, then git in there and fix the danged thing! THAT is when I start hating the "throwaway" mentality!

:wai: Some of the China clones are shipped with the tank lined with some kind of rust prohibiter. Therefore if the tank is not flushed out before adding fuel the prohibiter will end up in the carb. Not saying this is what causing the problem, but could be. Or do like stated return it and get another one.

Well I am unable to bring it back because I have used it and it has been longer than 90 days since I purchased it. Any ideas on what I could do to the engine to increase its performance? I would like to add a better air intake system but I am only seeing ones for the predator 212cc. Will these fit on my 346cc???

Out of all the new predator engines from hf, the 346cc is the one with the most negative reviews. Most of the bad reviews are about problems within a few hrs of running.........hope this isnt your case, and it is just carb gunked up.

Nodroz- you beat me to the punch with that advice- Thank you! We do not know for 100% certain what the problem is. Start making changes to the engine, and you could well end up chasing your tail around in circles. Even if it is PROBABLY the carb, and even if you intend to change the carb, you are much better off to verify it first. Now- if you planned to put a new OEM carb on it, you could consider that a troubleshooting step. If the new carb is NOT OEM spec, it could just end up a ghost...
