i found a bike on craigslist, so should i get that or resize a small bike because i'd be cutting it anyway? i need to do something soon because bikes usaly sell within a couple days

What kind of tube can I use? Wall thickness on most steel bikes is 1/16

A bike frame will not hold up very well unless you modify it. I hope you are not going to use those bike gears either.

i've got a bigger sprocket for the back wheel and a big chain. lol i don't understand chane sizing yet. the frame will be heavily modified to get a beefier version of the bike in my first post

So what size sprocket and chain?
Are they the same size?
What kind of hub does this sprocket have? and how are you going to attach this to the wheel?
What kind of wheel?
More importantly, what kind of sprocket is on the clutch/motor and does these things match the stuff you just got?

These are kinda important design elements that play into the final product.

Now dont be thinking Im giving you the third degree, I had to think for about a year before I had cut any steel, I just want you to make sure you got the basics of the design down and understand some fundamentals that we all have had to deal with any new build. Not many here have done a complete build from ground up.

So id like you to succeed in this. Just got to be a bit patient about it, and read alot on this site and around the web on this subject.

ok i'll answer what i can without the stuff in front of me; everything fits together, 26 cruiser rim is what i want, sprocket bolts to the spokes with some rubber and metal plateack2:, will try to get a pic of that), how do i figure out chain size?

Ahh i see now. One of those chinese bicycle kits. I see why you dont know whats up with the specs on it, there isnt any really.
I would investigate well what people have said about this guy and what he sells and others like him. You dont want to spend a ton of cash on something and it turn out to be crap.


I dont know much about them things. after looking at buddies store, there is alot of parts. Although im not too sure what rubber pads has anything to do with a clutch, im guessing it just a really cheap plate and flywheel type.

i reaserched the engine before i bought the kit and the seller had a good rating so i bought it a couple months ago and have run it. i also didn't get anything from that guy because he wouldn't accept returns. it has a centrifugial clutch i'm preaty shure because i've seen new clutch shoes for it that are ment for a centrifugial type. i probably should have gotten the kit from spookytoothcycles but i herd it's belt drive set up didn't work as well. they sell a nice bike wheel with a gear on either side so it can be petaled and run from the engine without the use of the rubber and metal spoke clamp mine came with.

ok here's some pics of what i've got. the clutch has 10 teeth on it and the chain says 450 H. the chain isn't fitting to well on the clutch just yet (every 3-4 teath it doesn't press down by it's self) but i hope that'll go away once it moves a bit more. there's also a pic of the chain the kit came with next to a bike chain

make sure chain, clutch, and sprocket are of the correct pitch.

3/8" between teeth is #35
1/2" is #40 or 41

here's the weird thing, the chain fits perfectly on the sprocket for the wheel but not on the one on the engine even though when i measured the distance between the teeth it was exactly the same. wuz up wit dat?
