ive been having trouble sleeping for the past month now... this sucks

Don't feel alone ..... every year about this time I have the same problem . I get insomnia really bad !

I find that drinking a few beers about an hour before bed helps me.

My wife seems to get the same problem . She found a supplement that she uses for sleep and says it works quite well . Its called melatonin . We dont take medication of any kind around here if it can be avoided ! Problematic addictions etc etc etc . Such as sleeping pills and other over the counter things . Some people have addictive personalities and it dont take much for them to get a habit forming :/ . This coming from a 35 year smoker that has been smoke free for 6 weeks now :smiley_omg: This is the only thing that has hooked me over the years and I can finally say ..... I WHOOPED ITS A** !!!!

Thats normal for me, i go to bed and wake up less than 2 hours later and stay up for hours.
Theres times i am awake by 11 and then back in bed around 6 just to get up at 8
Ya get used to it after a while.

This helps sometimes, either a couple tylenol pm or nyquil

Well done. I have been smoke free for about 5 years now. I still get cravings every so often, and sometimes second hand smoke smells so good, but the benefits of not smoking are great

meletonin is a naturally occurring compound found in about every living thing, it helps maintain the rhythms of our life, like our sleeping patterns and it is not addictive.

Just to clarify.

I've had the same issue
Some nights ill sleep for 10hrs
Other nights I just won't sleep

Apparently it's a lack of magnesium
From some other people who actually went to seek medical advice

I found rum keeps me awake
And vodka knocks me out so now it's a vodka every night
Sleep great now:thumbsup:

you are not the only one. i was up for 28 hours yesterday. surprisingly enough the lack of sleep seemed to make me a better forklift operator. i guess normally i would have just been waking up and operating is so i would slowly get moving and work my way up to full speed were when i was up all night i was already at full speed.

do you drink coffee? if so you might want to try cutting that and anything else with caffeine out of your diet. i know i avoid caffeine because it will keep me awake. i use to have that problem when i was going to school. i would fall asleep at 7am and wake up at 8:30am get to school just in time to not be mark late. it was horrible.

i dont really drink coffee at all i try not to because it doesnt make feel good. i dont really drink soda either. it might be the fact that i have a really active mind when i lay in bed to go sleep

How active are you? I know that if my body doesn't feel tired at the end of the day I wont be getting much sleep that night. Try going for a half hour jog a bit after supper or something like that.

i think any kind of sleeping pill, substance or alcohol is only going to be a short term thing. get a lot of exercise that may help tire you out, and its healthy. on my lazy days when i sit on the couch and do nothing, i wont be very tired at night. but on long days when i work hard and get a lot of exercise ill come home and pass out. (not saying you're a lazy person)

it seemed to made easy since my work don't have working heaters so temperature was about 0*c. its not the first time i have done this but it has been while since i done it last. as long as you keep moving and it is cool out you can usually go a pretty long time without sleep. its the moment you stop that you crash.
