What type of oil is recommended?

What spark plug, do plugs matter on performance? Like does one company make better plugs than another?

Just to test run it, if it will even start. Is it ok to start it uo without an exhaust or air cleaner? I have never had an ohv motor and am ignorant on them, and about any other motor.

Thanks for any help

Well it didn't start, I'm not sure if i put the wrong plug back into it, but it did cough a couple times so it does have spark. What causes the motor to cough, kinda like a backfire?

What spark plug do you have in it? Its a Champion N9YC but the Torch brand plugs come standard in them. Autolite 3910 is the racing plug equivalent.

Is this a new motor or what? Why the question to see if it even runs...

Bpr6es by Ngk is a good stock plug. Or the bp6es for a little brighter spark.

Sae30 or 10w30 should be fine.

Did I miss something? What clone are we speaking about here? A blue HF clone? A predator?

I would suggest getting your habds on a owners manual for the engine. It will give you all the info on the oil you should use and what spark plug would be good for you.

$5 is pretty good even for parts on that engine. The internals are as good as anything out there and it will last forever before its time to toss it. That plug is a hotter heat range than stock but it shouldnt matter to get it running.

If you verified that you have spark i would check the valve lash as the clones sometimes come out of adjustment. Sheared flywheel keys are rare on anything but a push lawnmower, especially if the motor has never had the flywheel removed.

Remove the rocker cover. Check lash and make sure they are on the pushrods and valves.

oh ok, i did put that all back together properly, at least i thought, ill pull that cover off and check to see if maybe one fell off or something. thanks for the advice

Don't only check that everything is working correctly, check the clearance between the rocker & the valve. If there is insufficient clearance, the engine won't run

There is a fized distance that they need to be at. You can set the gap using a feeler gauge

Have a look HERE. Nearly at the bottom of the page they say how much the lash should be. This is for a 6.5HP clone, but yours should be about the same

When adjusting the rockers DO NOT tighten the nuts too tight or you can strip the threading I'm glad to hear it is at least trying to start.
