MUHAHAHAHAHAH SHE RUNS BABY!!!!

I did everything properly today. Didn't have to go out and buy anything. I clocked her at 21 mph with my GPS. I had a fairly long straightaway, (about a football field long) and opened her up. I did notice on the hour/rpm meeter she didn't go beyond 3100 RPMs. Suggestions on how to really open it up?

Oh he** to the no I'm not touching the governor! It may just be the hour/rpm reader that is off. Ain't touching diddly squat. I can however change the gearing, right?

THANKS MAN!!!! YOUR HELP WENT A LONG WAY

Not really sure how much help I was but thanks!

Was the meter on the gps? Those can be pretty off.

Yeah, you can change the gearing (or even the tire size) but I'm not knowledgeable enough to be much help with that.

No, the meter is hooked up directly to the spark plug cable. It's the red cable in the pic.

Just have to tape up the kill switch, touch up a thing or two, and put the foam on. And she'll be done.

What is your current gearing? (have we covered this?)

I've read about others changing the gearing. Counting the number of teeth, etc. And I understand that initial torque is on the flip side of a top speed. So less torque now means a higher top speed, right? Knowing that it will take longer to get to that top speed, of course.

Correct, however, geared to high & your engine may not reach max RPM (as in your case) due to high load so, in fact, lowering your gear ratio may give you both; more torque for take off & a potentially higher top speed because your engine will rev higher

You need to count the teeth on the sprockets on the driven and the axle. If it's still stock (on the axle) it'll be 54 teeth. Count'em to be sure, of course. You'll then divide the driven spocket count into the axle count.
Example: On mine it was 9 teeth on the driven and the 54 on the axle which gave a 6:1 ratio.

Great news, I forgot I still had slack in the new throttle cable...about a 1/4 inch. took the slack out, now i'm at about 28mph at roughly 3200 RPM. Good enough for this guy! :D :D :D

Correct, unless you have one laying around...

If this is just a flip then leave it be & let the new owner worry about it. It starts, runs, goes, stops & turns: what more could they want?

I was just making a joke, been looking for an excuse to make a Talladega Nights reference.

(Although, possibly changing the gearing was your idea :innocent:)
