It may pay to add some 3Dness to the a arms
They would be too easy to fold at the moment

Also u may end up with a large scrub radius with the spindles set out like that
Will u have camber and caster?

The harness is fairly self explanatory as how to mount.
The seat has holes in it to thread the harness though.
The trick is to mount it so it won't rub against or put weight up to the seat. Otherwise when u hit that tree the seat will just break way and give u anoughter few inches of forward, giving u a hell of a shock or putting u into the steering wheel

What do you mean by 3Dness?
Most likely im going to not use the mounts that i planned on using ill probably mount the arms where the heims have unlimited movement like this instead of the way i first thought i would mount it because the pivot point would be closer to the actual axle.

I will have adjustable camber and for caster i'm not completely sure how it could be adjusted but its not a huge priority to me at the moment though i do have ideas how i could work it out.

I know how to mount a harness but there are certain angles that the straps need to be mounted at in order for them to actually help during impact and not break your back, or collarbones(which im not interested in doing again haha)

Hey guys i welded on my axles at 6* camber, probably should have gone with 12* though and im thinking about 10* KPI.

As far as caster i think the way the arms are already mounted the angle should be sufficient but ill let you guys help me determine whether its a good idea to build in extra caster.

I cut and tacked my upper control arms but ran out of wire

And i forgot to mention this earlier i moved the heims closer to the axle to reduce the scrub radius.(Thanks Fowler)

Now i just need to get another spool of wire and ill be ready to finish the front end minus tie rods.

EDIT:In the first picture i didnt end up using the 1/2-3/8 spacers i used the 1/2'' bolts i bought originally for it because they would work better.

Yeah its a lot wider im going to either widen it or build a new one thats wide enough. I know it looks kinda goofy right now

Ohh yeah everything's mounted up now i just didn't have a chance to post yesterday because i had to rebuild a top end i blew up at practice yesterday and i had a race today but here it is! again it looks funny from the back. also i found the way the arms are mounted is actually better because when they compress the camber increases which could be good in turns and such.

Hate to point this out, but you have your suspension design reversed. If one of the arms has to be shorter it should be the top arm, also I think that you will need to replace those a-arms soon because the bend in them looks like a huge weak point. Asides from that, this hasn't turned out too bad. I really like the profile of it with those dirt bike forks in the back.

Where was this when i built the lower arms? All of the sudden people are saying the arms won't hold up when they've had the same design for a month...I definitely appreciate your input but i don't have the money or materials to completely rebuild the front end, I'm afraid ill have to leave it this way for now.

Is there a way i can simply add on to them and fix this I only have two feet of 3/4 left and i never have time to go get steel because i don't have a truck and my dads never home before my steel supplier is closed so i can only go maybe once every few months.

If i were to cut the arms where they bend and weld them so they are straight would that remedy the weak points? should i brace them vertically? I may end up moving the upper arm to the top mounting position so they can be closer to equal in size. But one reason they are moved down so low is they didn't clear the bracket far enough.

Hey guys i was supposed to get my seat yesterday and the mail lady had it in the van but she wasn't allowed to deliver it because there is an oversize box fee im supposed to pay which is $52.19! So needless to say I messaged the seller who has already given me problems telling them that im not paying the fee because i already paid shipping has this happened to anyone else because i just don't get why they would ask the person receiving the package to pay?

Seller was trying to save money and did not calc. correct box size when he printed the label.

Yes this has happend to me when I made shipping mistakes. If seller listed shipping price in the auction then he must ship it or return the package to him and refund your full price plus shipping.

Call your post office and have them hold the package while you deal with seller. If not it will be on truck later tonight to be returned. After you get the hold then have seller forward you the funds. You must stop the package from being returned though.

For now I would just put a piece of tube on the top arms to create a shallow triangle. You might be able to do that with the bottom arms as well. If you do that then they should stand up fine.

I moved the top a-arms to the higher position because it looks better and gusseted the shock mounts, also I moved the arm for the shifter so when I install the seat it can be bolted on the frame rails to keep the center of gravity low the arm does seem a bit low though. I may make a skid plate for it but not anytime soon.

It sucks but I didn't get the seat the seller wouldn't pay the oversize shipping fee so I had to refuse the box, sooner or later I'll buy the seat but I needed some parts for the dirtbike and considering how expensive motorcycle parts are i don't have money for a seat.

One picture is to reference the size my bikes bars are about shoulder height when its on the stand.

For those who are actually following this thread progress will bee slow for a while because I'm racing again and school is starting soon and I need a job so that will be one more thing holding me back but this will be finished hopefully soon it all comes down to how much I have to spend.

I appreciate your comment I've made very little progress thanks to school and other activities getting in the way but once I get over this speedbump (I've got lots of stuff to pay for and no job) the project will move on!

when i first started reading this thread i thought u were working on it as a quad and so when you put the bike fork on it i didn't know what was going on! then i realized it was a go kart. lol! it looks awsome! good luck!

Haha thanks! Ive actually not done a whole lot recently except put an aluminum seat in and the harness.


My family is moving again in about two weeks to Daytona so ill post whatever progress there is if theres any progress.
