I wouldnt trade all that stuff for it. Is anything wrong with the warrior? Youncould easily sell it for 200. And if you want ill buy the doodlebug off you for my little brother for like 50 bucks. Lol

I talked to the guy who i got my bike from and he says that he has a perfecr runnung yz125 but hes not interested in trades for minibikes and stuff like that. But he said that he'd take offers for it. He told me hes looking for a quad. If you are interested i could give you his number so you guys can work something out.

Woah there! that stuff is easily worth $350 without the $100 added on.
What engines and parts?

warrior is jerry rigged, missing throttle, and it has a greyhound, and the frame is botched up (from my stupid 10hp engine swap)

the doodlebug is the good one, rebuilt clone with a few mods, no governor, new clutch, 6.5 engine swap kit.

the tractor is a POS but thats what hes most interested in. lol.

i already talked him out of the $100, its an even trade now

i might even ask if he would take one of the mini bikes..

i know i should have started less and worked my way up. but oh well

the doodlebug isnt stock- has a baja 6.5 motor with no governor and some mods

it rips, (only took it out once) i took it down a dirt road and i was going so fast i could barely control it. hit the brake and i skid for a very long time. not sure how old your brother is but i dont reccomend it for little kids they would kill themselves on it. its a wheelie machine too. i lost it a couple times

the PMR motor mount and clutch were a good $80-100 alone and its only been taken out once. also has new riding mower tires. 2 spare brake calipers.

im sure id be able to get 200 for it easy. but who knows it may be gone tomorrow

What do you mean tomorrow? Are you gonna end up trading it to that guy? If so then he's gonna make some serious cash off of your stuff.

Doodlebug- 200
Warrior project-100
Parts tractor-30
Engine-30
Running engine-50
Spare parts- 20

And on top of that 100 cash$

IDK how your craigslist is but if I were you I'd bite the bullet and just wait a little longer till you find a better deal.

You will never sale all them at once. Would you rather have mini bikes or a YZ125? Are you going to go to school with a tractor and mini bikes in the back of your truck? What would the girls think?

Sometimes I add cash in the items I really want. 75% of the people you do not know will want some kind of cash anyway to seal the deal.

Also IMO there is difference in value and trade value. As in cash and then trade value that is. Sometimes I will list an item for $500 cash or $800 in trades.

Also you can always score cheap mini bike. Not so with cheap YZ125's. Or at least cash on hand to buy one.

I have been trying to trade 4 FL250's for most any FL350 that pops up on CL 400 miles from me. My trade offer is way over the asking price. But it's what I really want.

You may have more into the bike than whats it's worth when done. But at the same time do you have the $700 plus on hand? So projects would work out perfect for you fund wise. If you listed your mini bikes and tractor on CL do you think another dirtbike trade would come up for what you have?

What does this $250 rebuild kit come with? How is the trans? I am seeing complete bottom ends on ebay for like $150 to $200 plus range.

I would also check all the bearings and bushings good. The nickle and dime stuff will turn good deal bad fast. Someone like you could dial that bike in and have solid bike. Or you can just let it go to heck like so many people do.

Anymore history? First owner? rich kid? how did he blow the bottom end? Or what happend when he blew it? Is it locked up? Trans?

You really want to know how much the bike has been rode? Look at the paint where your boot heel would hit the frame? Sure paint will wear off but after lots of riding it will polish the bare steel on the frame. Good way to tell if lots of hours are on the bike if you see steel worn smooth and deep into frame.

there is no money involved with this trade now!!!! i had the tractor and engines on craigslist for over a month and nobody called.

yes, id rather have a bike like this than a bunch of tractors and mini bikes. lol

this is the kit im looking at, of course if the damage is everything he says it to be.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.co...-End-Rebuild-Kit-2001-Yamaha-YZ125-Parts.aspx

the yz125 is a sweet bike no doubt

Make sure you review that kit before you just waste your time and money. Ask the YZ forums how they do.

So, he said the bottom end is dead.. $200 for the bottom end kit. (assuming this is a bearing/seal kit and not a rebuilt crank)

Then. About $100 for someone to press your crank apart, install the bearings and press it back together. That's assuming no damage was done to the rod/crank(which there almost certainly will be), in which case, add a few hundred on top of that for a new crank/rod.

Whilst you're there, you'd be mad not to fit a new piston and rings. Add on another $100+. What happens if you find it's on the last oversize? Well you'l be up for a new jug too (if not soon).

Seeing as you've done all that, you may as well throw in a new water pump, add on another $50.

Add on another $50 for random consumables, gaskets and bits you find you need, ect.

At best, that's $850 to get this thing running properly again.

But again, what if the "bottom end damage" has damaged the cases or gearbox/clutch? The price sky rockets again!

In short, for a 20 year old bike that isn't particularly rare, sought after or high performing, it's not worth it.

Naturally, if you advertised that bike in that condition here in Australia for double what he wants, your phone would be ringing flat out all week.

Thanks

Hayden

The kit showed the crank but I did not read it.

Good insight though.
