First time to post but it seems like I am always working on my son's go kart. It is a Manco whatever a with a 6hp Tecumseh. It has a Comet 20 series converter and clutch which consistently gives me problems. The clutch seems to wobble after usage and causes the two wheels (unknown technical name)...which I think is the clutch to separate too much and stick together. This makes the belt remain engaged and deive the kart forward even during idle. I have tightened the bolt that secures the two parts but it seems to back out causing the play. Any suggestions?

If the nut keeps on backing out, then you need to do something to not make it back out. Use nyloc nuts with loctite, or castle nuts with a cotter pin. Tighten another nut onto the nut that you have to keep it in place.

I would also suggest that you give your TC a good clean. Here are some sites you can check out

Thanks. It looks like my driver probably needs to be cleaned and dry lubed. Will something else work besides the stuff from Comet?

Cleaned all parts with brake cleaner and put it back together. So far so good because my son put about 2 hours on it and no troubles. Thanks for the advice and links to cleaning.
