100,000 lbs if you gear it right. of course you would only move 300 ft in an hour.
maybe a little more info will get an answer that will help you out.

Toystory should move this to the Electric Projects section. That board is gettin cobwebs goin on. haha.

On topic: Is a gasoline engine in your budget? An electric kart is going to require more than one large battery on it. And if you run out of battery, you're in trouble. I know you can run out of gas, but its much easier to get some gas from a friend or something than it is charge it up and ride it home.

hmm wat about four 12-volt lead-acid batteries, 1 8-kilowatt mars electric motor 6.4HP around , 26-inch weel's, and find the best gearing and fram about 150 pounds BTW this is for a tricycle. i also want to make a smal solar station in my back yeard to charge it lol but that is a side project umm this tricycle is for on road and i wana tri make it run for around 30-40KM. the controller i still don't know but maybe a Altrax programmable controller but idk yet . speed i hope more then 30KPH i wana tri get 50KPH or best 80KPH im wana pout 1250$ on this project maybe a bit more if is worth it. no suspention and im making the fram as light wight as posibal but still strong enuf. if you can help with this for parts and all i aprechiate it . thanks =)

Exactly. You can gear it at a 2:1 ratio and you'll probably use up the battery's charge and probably not even get moving, or you can gear it at like 15:1 and pull a wheel burrow full of concrete. I don't know how these ratios would perform in real life, but the best thing to do is save up for an engine if you can.

8kw is way overkill. If you built a real light frame a 800w 36v motor could pull you fine you could also overvolt it to 48v and get 4 12v lead acid batteries and a 48v controller.

Please bear in mind electric is not the cheap easy way out. It is far cheaper going down to hf and getting a predator. However, if noise is an issue or you ^do not want a gas motor, go ahead!

i agree with brandon gas is the way to go,electric is clean and noisless but gas has certain advantages
-mobility(range in miles and ease of geting more fuel)
-powa! gas trumps electric!
-easy to repair.a 2 stroke golf cart engine is a heck of a lot easyer to repair without all the electrical mumbo jumbo
-the red neck appeal. what certified redneck or speed demon wants a electric engine! it just doesnt make sense!
