what type of shaft do i have?

All I know is my engine is a 6.5 hp b&s but don't know the model.. What kind of shaft? Its a screw type on the out side and a center hole and it has no key way.. Can I put a clutch on it?

Its not a tapered shaft its straigh from start to finish its 5/8 and I can't put pics through mobile ;(

newbie needs help

I'm trying to use this for a kart. Can I put a clutch on it? What type of shaft is this?

It was a (trash) water pump before its briggs and stratton 6.5 hp

ew. good luck with that. anyone want to take over here? lol.

that motor is not intended to play well with go-kart parts unless you want to rip the motor apart and replace the crankshaft. see if you can sell it for $ to put torwards a proper engine. :)

Can't I just make a keyway? What's wrong with it? If I do change the crank shaft can I use it?

MPH- Please avoid starting multiple threads covering the same topic. I have merged them and deleted the empty one to keep things tidy.

Regarding your question- It may be possible to cut in a keyway and mount a 5/8" clutch. IMHO, you'd be better to either replace the crankshaft with a standard 3/4" keyed, or sell the engine and buy one that is already so equipped. You run the risk of mangling the shaft trying to cut in the keyway and therefore wasting your money o a 5/8" clutch.

how much should i sell this engine for?

Its a brigs and stratoon that is not gokart friendly but its still a good 6.5 hp engine plan on selling it on CL lol
