New to the site and I need to find out if anybody has installed a 6.5 greyhound onto a go kart? If so how does the throttle hook up? Does anybody know any links for aftermarket parts for this engine?
Thanks

Wow, I didn't know these engines were so cheap. =P

Do they stand up to wear well?

From what i hear there pretty durable, When i was in Peru they were using these exact same 6.5 clones as boat motors (small world huh?), where they were run for hours at a time at full throttle the whole time, the oil was most likely never changed, and the gas was of very poor quality, but they held up.

There are several ways to hook up the throttle for the hf motor i (no offense to ironman) didnt think that hook up was the best for my cart due to im going to use it off road and afraid of the brake line getting snagged in brush and what not i did a little diffrent setup myself and i did it for free not saying thats the best way to go just how i had to do it at the time just look how to hook up harbor friehgt motor for free hope it helps

This is the same engine as all the other HF clones, the "blues". I think they just made it CARB compliant and renamed it to greyhound.

can you weld on that? i need to weld on my kart frame..

Why would you weld on an engine? I dont understand your question. Do you want to mount it to your kart? it has bolt holes for a reason...

I also suggest beginning your own thread as not to dig up vary old threads. (this is 2009 lol)

no... i need to know if you can weld a break of the kart frame back together when the motor is still bolted on the frame it's self. do i need to take the coil out of the motor or can i just leave it and not worry about the electronic parts on the inside of the motor its self

Never used to be lol.

I would recommend disconnecting your kill switch atleast. It 'should' be alright. My brother killed an engine welding to a kill switch though.
