Gear Ratios Help needed

5:1 might be a bit much. Are you planning on modifying the engine any? Gov removal, valve springs, etc?

I use this all the time.

I have a minibike that takes me to 42 with a 6.5hp clone (no gov, 18lb springs, rejet, air filter, and exhaust). I run a 5.24:1 with a 14" tall tire and I weigh 285. On a gokart (more weight) with 20" tires I wouldn't run anything less than 6:1 or 7:1 if you want to be able to go up hills and off road type stuff.

I plan on removing the governer and maybe buying new valve springs. Also where can i buy them at?Im mostly going to be on the road and some on the dirt
