I was wondering the same thing...Can a motorcycle sprocket be made to work on a go cart engine? Is your Kawasaki from a dirt bike? If it is then you should have no problem using a 520 sprocket/chain.

You can buy #520 sprockets here:--> http://www.gokartgalaxy.com/shifter_kart_&_quarter_midget_sprockets_for_3.htm

If you post some pics/measurements of your rear axle style, we could probably recommend a sprocket hub to use with those...

We could probably help you select how many teeth your rear sprocket should be If you post:

Your engines current drive sprocket tooth count, and its redline rpm,
and your rear tires height, and approx weight of the kart/rider(s) ?
and kinda give us more of an idea if the kart will just be for pavement use, or maybe just for serious off-road type riding.

Etcetera, any other info like that would help us to help you out here :thumbsup:

I would actually say most go karts use 35, some use 40, but any with a bike style engine uses 420/428/5##, whatever the bike uses.

Those prices on that site for 520 sprockets is high , personally go on Ebay and check there , I found a 520 front , rear and chain in a package deal for a motorcycle on Ebay for $ 59.99 ,alot cheaper .

Racekart slicks like your rears are usually around 11 inches tall, not 8"...

So assuming your rear tires are actually 11" tall, anywhere between a 25 and 30-tooth axle sprocket would be a good choice.
