OK here it does I am not sure what i am looking at or how to say it right. I have my other go kart motor on my go kart and for some reason it will not respond to the throttle. It only go up in RPM with the choke lever. IT starts to go as soon as the motor turns over and starts to run (will not idle with out moving forward). It looks like everything is connected and moves with me pressing on the gas pedal. The throttle arm does not change the RMP in the motor either. Pleases let me know what I need to do to get thing.

Here are some pictures of the linkage.

there needs to be a return, thats running wide open, when you take the choke off its going to go wild, its full throttle

You might want to consider mentioning the word "spring" because I'm sure the OP is now really confused.

The OP didn't say the kart was taking off full throttle- he said there was no throttle response.

To the OP- I don't see in the pictures where the cable or linkage from the gas pedal connects- where is that? Also try this-

Put the rear of the kart up on stands and either block the front wheels or put it up against a wall or tree for safety. Start the engine, and try moving the throttle butterfly, governor arm and other linkages buy hand. Let us know what actions do what.

Also- did the problem just start on its own, or did you change something and the problem appeared?

OK I did put it up on stands and attempted to play with all of the linkages. The only one that did anything was the black u shaped one on top, and it just killed the motor. None of the others affected the motors performance.

And yes when i start the kart it immediately starts to take off on me, even if I have the choke on all the way.

they make linkage kits for briggs like this http://www.dhgate.com/briggs-go-kar...e-kit/r-ff8080812d1889ac012d196f797e61a7.html that screw on the other side is your idle screw, which really shouldnt even be that high, even with choke, thesse engines have some power, its like starting your car with the gas peddle all the way down, even when its cold its going to take off, so what i suggest, is getting the linkage, it has everything you need, theres a small peice then pushes an end on the gas tank, and you put if over one of the bolt holes and stretch it back to the new throttle arm, it also might have died because of an incorrect carb tuning, the carb is going to need to be tuned

Ok so i have tried everything but nothing is working with the throttle response. I am going insane trying to figure out what is causing this thing to not work right. Can anyone tell me what to start with on troubleshooting in step by step fashion. Like i said I am desperate, and I am at a complete loss on how to fix this so i can get this kart up and going.

Could you supply a video?
Begin at the pedal and work your way back to engine so we can see what is going on.
Have someone work the linkage as tape is rolling.
I suspect your cable housing is not locked down.

sorry man but some WD-40 could really help, the engine is running wide open, it was messed up the linkage was, get that linkage kit on, turn the carb mixture screw all the way in, i beleive you turn it out 2 and 3/4 and then tune it to make sure it idles, and runs good at full throttle. the linkage kit will take some re routing, but will be better in the end, you also wont have the governor

i do not want to get the kit since I am just using this motor for the time being I am building another to replace this one with that has a slightly different and newer carb setup

you need to run some spring on the U shaped peice then, to hold it back and make it return, then tune the carb, then figure out how to get your linkage together

the throttle cable is pulling the governor, but the throttle isint returning, and your linkage from the motor to the pedal is off

It is 1 1/2 turns out. 2 3/4 is way too much for a start.
