so my clone needs a lot of parts, and 6.5hp in a little chopper really wont be that great of a ride. i still didnt know what to put my 13.5 Briggs flatty on. so i am trying to find a cheap-ish drive train so that i can use it....

options:

  • mount engine horisontally
probably cant do this because this engine has a crankshaft counterweight mechanism that comes in VERY close clearance to the rod. also the crank case is huge.

  • RAGB
would probably be the easiest, but the cheapest i have found is around $150. i dont want to spend more than 70-80 if i go this route.

i could also make a home made RAGB but i dont know where to start as far as how to support the shafts and make a very strong gear mesh for the 13.5 HP...

  • bent belt
special kind of belt. i am not sure how this would work but it may be the most possible... i have a bent belt come off the engine shaft pulley and onto a jackshaft behind the engine...

  • arien's style friction plates
i have been working on a arien's mower... actually swapping a crapped out SH!tty 6.75 OHV briggs for a good old 6hp briggs flathead. and the drive system has a belt driven disk with a roller that gets pressed into the rotating disk. maybe take one off a snowblower?

any other ideas?

im not sure where the tractor battery will go... or maybe ill get a motorcycle battery.?

****the engine wont be mounted like this, but this is the only way it would fit just to show the engine and bike together.

This might prove quite difficult due to space constraints, but do you have a GOOD mower tranny (like a Tec-Peerless 7-800) available?

It might even result in yours being the only mini with reverse!

i have this one, but its going (maybe?) in my tractor... if i use it for snowblowing..

also have a 5 speed peerless but i need the case welded up because it cracked.

and i would have to like.... lock up the diff and put a sprocket on one side going to the rear wheel?

a modded clone will work great on that. Just run a jackshaft so you can get good gearing and youll be haulin a$$

yea i always use clones though haha. and the one i have needs alot of parts

Lock the diff? No. I meant mower transmission, not transaxle. A transaxle would be way too bulky for the task.

i have a push mower tranny if thats what your talking about. its small. one lever to engage. one speed. craftsman. think it would take 13.5hp pulling a bike though?

No, I mean RIDING mower transmission. To explain

A transmission is the means of transmitting power from the engine to the axle. A transaxle, INCLUDES the axle. So- Transmission= one output to feed the axle and in turn, the wheels. Transaxle= TWO outputs, includes the axle and each output feeds each wheel.

I think you have a photo above showing a transmission.
