i have a 6.5 hf clone and it will cut off when i put the choke all the way open so i have to run it at half choke. Another problem is it is running rough and i am not sure where the carb jet screw is. any help would be nice thanks

Its physically inside of the bottom of the carb. If you remove the carb and hold it upside down, remove the bowl and you'll find the main jet staring straight at you.

okay that is what i thought but then it shuts off. so i am going to clean the carburetor

Good idea, that helped my 8 hp Briggs flathead.
Warning unhook all gas lines, drain carb to.

Step my step, First take air filter and air filter parts off.
2nd take carb off engine. 3nd take bowl off. take a gallon bucket set carb inside, fill 1/2 inch with lemon juice, then fill to over the highest part with vinegar. Leave it there for 48 hrs.

Then put it back together, and on engine, air filter. THEN THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT RUN STRAIGHT OFF LUCAS AND STA-BIL MIXED 50% Lucas 50% Sta-Bil it will be about like Ethenal.

Run it 1-2 hours. Then run gas and the mix.

Hope this helps.

Elaborate on "not run"
it wont start at all now? Make sure you put everything back the same..
check and recheck...
Id dump any previous gas you had in your fuel tank prior and put some fresh gas in it. You may have had some water in the old gas prior to you having issues.
Save some of the old gas in a glass jar if ya want.. if it had water in it you will see bubbles at the bottom of the glass......if it looks like solid gasoline with no bubbles or dirt at the bottom of the glass jar then you are good. Don't put any of that stabilizer crap in the gas either. As to the other posters comment about the fuel mixture, get the cart running again before you start experimenting with fuel, additives, meth, etc.

well it will sound like it is going to turn over but just stop before it fires so i am going to get a new spark plug today and see if that will fix it

I think you would see the layer of water on top of the gas. That might just be for planes though. I think you have a bad seal or carb is dirty.

Well I don't know. I just saw on top gear when the guy tested his plane he said if there was any water it would show as a separate layer on top.
