might I suggest that u use some pillow blocks for the bearings support of the jack shaft. Weld a plate for a flat deck, use some washers to bring up the height if needed. it looks like all the hard work is done.

will do, and yes it is!

UPDATE!

the frame, is outside, been rusting this whole time. i need to finish the welds and mount pillow blocks.

new engine: clone has been forgotten. this is getting an H60 flatty.

first step: get the engine together. this is my project engine and its been apart and rebuilt over a half dozen times in the past 6 months....

working on a throttle linkage...

how i am going to remount the carb.. btw this is a briggs 8hp carb on a 6hp tecumseh.

did that come off the hm80? you should try the chinese carb you got.

nah its a 8hp briggs carb.

i would try the carb i got (japanese 90cc quad carb) but..

  • choke is electronic
  • i dont want to buy a special cable for the slide
  • manifold is a hose clamp type.. so i dont know how to make that

well brought it inside today, and threw the h60 into it, heres that pic.

ripped off the jackshaft, that the bearing blew after 10 feet, dam junk.

and the back end i was a little iffy about putting on. but decided to try it. and with a seat over that it wont look half bad.

still needs TONS of welding and grinding to look better, then its getting some POR15 semi gloss black.

also need to make a mount for the brake caliper but i have about 3 feet of welding wire left in my machine... gonna have to get some.

hehe looks like the only thing left of that original pocket bike is the forks and handle bars.
do you ever feel like your reinventing the wheel?

only thing from the pocket bike is the foot pegs and a piece of the engine plate.

Blue, I am seriously surprised at how far the quality of your work has come. When you first started posting here, I thought you were crazy and for sure going to get killed on one of your sketchy contraptions. But I'd probably trust riding them myself now :p

thanks for the kind words! one major reason i have been spending alot more time on projects and thinking them over is because,

most of the things ive built have worn out so fast and fallen apart,

and some lady moved in the neighborhood and called the cops for me riding on the street, that ended my road, for good, i can never ride anything down my street ever again. ive got almost no where to ride anymore.

got it from jacks small engines. and get this. the bearings and jackshafts were MADE BY AZUZA!! (if i spelled that right)

 Did you like, find an unused gift card for mega $$$$$ to HF? Own stock and get the owner class discounts? I've been reading thru some of your threads; I haven't so far seen anyone else seemingly, magically, just pull an engine (STILL IN THE BOX!!) out from under the work bench and declare "I've decided to start a new project today......". :roflol: What' your secret?:cheers2:

nope haha. i know alot of people in the small engine business and where to get them. also craigslist. ebay. theres alot out there.

sometimes if i look for an engine i cnt find it. but if i wait for it to come to me i find tons of junk engines.

the h60 came off a go kart i bought on craigslist all for $50. and the clone i bought for $120 at HF back in january.

ive only been doing this kind of stuff for a year. i got over a dozen engines now haha

Hey I buy stuff and put it away for future projects all the time especially when I can get a good deal on it.
I always keep 2 or 3 spare engines and clutches around never know when you'll need them.

I recently bought a 49cc 2 stroke "future" (motorized bike project)

A comet foreword/reverse gear box, and a brand spanking new still in the box never had oil or gas in it HM100 10hp Tecumseh engine, and complete comet 40 series drive and driven unit for a future cart/bike/ATV project I don't even have a chassis for yet.

My point is if you have a hobby, and hobbies are expensive, there is nothing wrong with finding good deals and stock piling
as a matter of fact it makes good sense, you never know when you'll need that spare engine or clutch, heck you might even be able to turn a buck is you get a good enough deal.

Besides I see things and visualize building a project around it sometimes, other times I see it as a mod to a current project, and No no project is ever complete, they are ever evolving.

Relax guy!! I was joking. I had to tease him since he openly admits he's still in school. All in fun (and it looks like he took it that way). And I'm with ya on keeping my ear to the ground and my eyes open. Only for me, it's machine tools. My best score to date? A 6x18 in cap. surface grinder for $350.00. The cheapest I've seen them listed for is approx. $6500.00(Chinese) My manual milling machine I got for free because the company that owned it didn't know where to get parts for it after the local distributor quit supporting them and one of their guys managed to rip the headstock off it:ack2: :oops: My last job was doing on site machine repair, so it didn't bother me(I know who the importer is) new casting $650.00 back in business.:wai: Like you said, you just gota know what your looking at.:cheers2:
