Replace my Comet Driven with pulley?

I just got a Manco 710E Kart. Could I replace my Comet driven with just a regular pulley? I just want it to stay geared down on the driven side and let the torque converter handle the rest. Has anyone done this or have any advice? Thanks.

a tc needs both parts to work properly... Plus why would you even want to in the first place?? a tc delivers plenty of torque.

Well, I guess it's messed up then. It seems like the belt is pulling into the driven when it shouldn't be. I want more torque and less speed. I'm new to torque converters. When I was a kid I just had a centrifugal clutch on my Kart. Now I'm old and large! Haha.

Awesome. I appreciate everyones help. I'm going to read up on these things. I think I found my new hobby! I'm already looking for more Karts! I really wish I could build one, but I have no welder or skills. Maybe one day. Anyway, I have to leave my Kart at my parents house because my yard is small. I'll take some pics this weekend when I'm there.

It may be a simple change that delays the engagement of the driven so that it shifts later and stays in the torquey-er range longer.

So, I just want to say thanks to everyone. I study up on the driven, cleaned it, and now it's working like a champ. I don't know what I was thinking before. Ha! I'm loving my Kart. I bought another even, a Murray Explorer. It's time to buy a welder and start learning to weld!

Spend some time and not money! I'm glad to hear it worked. These things really are quite bullet proof except for the few, small wear parts like springs and nylon buttons.
