whos tried this tool?

well ive been looking at harbor freight alot lately and found this tool keeps going down on sale http://www.harborfreight.com/multifunction-power-tool-67256.html the reviews keep going in between good and bad and i dont know which to beleive, what do you guys thing?

That type of tool is made by several different brands, including Rockwell, Bosch and DREMEL. Apparently, compared to all of the more name brand ones the harbor freight tool sucked. (Not hard to believe, right)

I have one, havent used it much. works ok for sanding surfaces. Thats all I've used it for.

The better-branded ones are dead handy. I've got a cordless version I have used for everything from undercutting jambs to cutting out fibreglass...

It's the ability to get into tight areas accurately that makes them so sweet. With the small cutting blade, I have cut baseboard (still on the wall) flush against a cabinet- without damaging the wall, floor, or cabinet. Try THAT with a sawzall...

I've got one and it paid for itself easily the first time I installed laminate floors (highly useful in cutting door jambs etc).

On HF tools, get them when you're going to use them, then use them as soon as you get them home, and then you'll know if they're good or not. They usually have a 90day warranty with an option to pay an additional amount to extend it to a year or two.


FWIW: the blades on these are expensive and if you use the wood ones on metal etc you will tear them up. use the right blade for the right job

The real question is why? If you're going to use it for flush cutting trim or undercutting jambs, get one. If it's just an interesting tool for cheap, don't bother...

the floor to the bathroom fell out, and we had to cut some of the panels out and remove some of the caulking so i took it as a good oppertunity for them to be discontiuned

My GOD! Was anyone taking a dump when it happened? Any fatalities? Did it scare the out of you?

actually i had walked into the bathroom looking for my phone which i found on the floor, i looked in the mirror and then i fell right through it, and i was so **** scared that i didnt even make a sound all i know is i was trying to scream, and i hit the ground, and that after going to the doctors because of my back and having to wear a back brace for 2 weeks, i got mad and went to ride my mini bike, to where the stupid chain again, and i got my kness scraped up and i went back in there, and i was like, **** this, im going to get that tool i seen yesterday, and went there, waited 40 minutes, and the assistant manager was like "oh that items been discontiuned and i cant give you any of the ones like it at the price" so i just jumped in the car and came home, and sadley no, but i wish my brother would have been, just to scare him, i feel right after the toilet, where the photo is, it was taken a few weeks ago.

Depending upon the user, the floor falling out may have just expedited the process...
