to make the boat water worthy i need to sheets of 3/4in thick exterior ply wood for the transom. with some water sealer. some tar to seal up the floor of the boat.(idk if it leaks better safe then sorry) some seats. new hubs bearings a few trailer pieces and lights.
and of coarse paint.

Need to know where to get cheap hubs and whats a good paint for a boat?

Paint stripper paste style.

Then get some of that outdoor turf carpet and do the inside.

Do you fish? Or just lake fun? Both? Whats to law on HP and engine size where you live? In Oregon it's under 10hp needs no lincence.

I think it would look nice bare.

Hey B man, were you running that engine dry?

If so, you should always have the lower unit submerged in water when test starting an outboard. You can use a big pail, bucket or a clean trash can but you dont want your rubber water pump impeller just grinding away dry in there.

You probably didn't run it long enough to overheat the engine there or anything, but its always a good Idea to test start outboards wet, and then always look to see if the engine is spitting water out its small outlet hole when its running. This will confirm the water pump is functioning so the engine wont overheat and be damaged.

They even sell 'Muffs' like this pic below that clamp over the water pump intake in the lower unit. Then you just hook the garden hose to it.

You can see the water stream shooting out of the engine in this test start video, always make sure your engine does this to confirm your water pump impeller is still working/pumping water!

well i got some done today. the old hubs are definitively screwed. the boat is now "clean".
i have a question.
on the transom the plates that held the wood had rivets in it. what bolts could replace rivets?

and i also went to the Secret city festival. where they had tents up and i found what i guess is an old vintage boat light. guy wanted 1$. and guess what? it works!

now i just need trailer lights and then my lights are good.

gonna talk to my papa to see if he will help me rebuild the transom.

im excited about this build! and i have all summer to finish it! and then i can even use it in my schools fishing club!

What exactly is wrong with them? Trailer hubs are nearly the same as automotive hubs, they have serviceable tapered roller bearings. A good cleaning of the bearings in a solvent tank followed by repacking them with grease, and hammering a new seal into the hub is usually plenty to get them going for several thousand more miles. If the bearings are excessively worn, NAPA or any good bearing store will be able to sell you replacements.
