Has anyone had much luck with it? The farthest I've ever gotten with a deal from CL was getting to the guy's house and having the motorcycle he was selling not start (when he claimed it did).

Aside from that, I've had people call me and have absolutely no idea how roads worked (I gave him exact, easy to follow directions on a route I knew well and he couldn't figure it out... I gave him road names/numbers, landmarks... etc) and a ton of people who will just email me, and I respond, and they don't email me back (yes, I'm sure my emails go through, at least on my end)... Same for me emailing people selling things, no response.

And yes, I know about the scammers and all that garbage... those aren't the people not responding.

So is it just me that's having these problems, or has anyone else been seeing the same things?

yep all walks of life on CL.

I have had great luck with it though. No calls and no shows is a big problem though. CL is a great tool if you can make it work for you.

Also look to see when the add was posted. Lots of the time the seller will sell the item and not remove it from CL. Then after it is sold they do not answer the emails.

Every time I posted an item on craigslist it has sold within 2 days. You just need to know how to make a good ad. And dont post your item 5 times a day. I haven't bought much from craigslist, Just 1 go kart. It may just be my area, but craigslist is an essential tool for the wheeler and dealer.

Can I get an example of a 'good' ad please?

One with good pictures, good description, reasonably priced, and not over-posted. Also leave a call back number, no one whats to play e-mail tag and e-mails are bad for trying to make deals.

Alright, thanks... mine generally look about like the first one. Just asking because I'll probably sell one or two of my HF 6.5s when they run out in stores.

Thats 250cc sled engine in the first add would be a killer engine for a kart. They are very small and would not be crazy over powered like a 340cc twin would be. Thats a really nice hi reving small light engine there. Single as well.

Check out my "finds in SW PA" thread. It's laced with all kinds of goodies that I don't have the cash or space for so I figured I'd share with anyone around Pittsburgh, PA. I know that's of no use to you, but maybe you aren't looking right.

EDIT: Actually it may be of use to you. Akron an Cleveland aren't that far.

Your thread gave me an idea. A thread called post you great CL deals you cannot buy for lack of funds. I see stuff all the time I want to buy. It would make an interesting thread for sure. One rule though. It has to be a all time bargain type listing. Also have to post pics in the thread. If you just post links the link will die in a week. Or if the item sales and seller delets the add it is gone forever and anyone reading will see dead links. it would also be a great tool for new member to view for what they can find on CL. Samples if you will.

Also I find many deals on Ebay from PA.

Like the Margay frame I posted a week or so back. It was a full roller in need of a motor and clutch, for $150. The frame alone was estimated, once restored, by Anderkart, at $300.
