no its a cdi ignition with a single external coil with 2 wires off it, i tried my crf50 style coils and none worked and i think its cuz i didnt know the resistance of the original, but now i know its 4.7ohm and my crf50's are all 1.5ohm

also the coil on the sled is not stock(i dont think so) its a denso coil and thats probably why it died.. i also read online that the 377 likes to kill coils after sitting for periods of time i dont know why and i cant really find any more info on it.. the stator and cdi box are both good so im not sure what happened from the day i got it till couple days after when i was trying to start it.. maybe that short run killed it somehow i dont know

the sled shows 927 miles

cash price on quad im asking $200 but id take $100 to get it out of here

the cash price on the sled im not sure i want to get it running cuz i know someone who wants to put the motor in his ultralight but he also wants it running so he knows its a decent motor to start with

got anything else you would throw in with the ds80? im looking for another pitbike for my brother as well.. i would love the atc but its too big i would have to store it outside in my backyard like the quad and sled are now, keep all my other toys in the basement

basically the sled needs a coil to run, hit any bike shops used parts bin for a 2 cylinder coil should work fine, and the quad i honestly dont know but im pretty sure its the stator i found a wire diagram for a lt250r but those are 2 strokes but i tried to use it anyways and couldnt determine what wire was a ground from the stator i think it grounds on the mounting bolts or something

I would offer you 100 for the quad and $125 for the none running sled. It pretty ruff. I am taking a chance and have to drive 6 hours round trip. To make it worth it to me I cannot offer you more.

The quad I am not to sure on for the front a arms look funky to use on a buggy.

Have you checked compression on the sled?

id sell the quad for $100 just cuz i dont want it in my yard anymore, im actually losing $100 on it at that price

but the sled i would rather keep than sell for $125, i know since i dont have it running atm its a long shot for you.. but im gunna go to puget sound motorcycles tomorrow, best shop around here they are cheap and have TONS of spare parts, i always leave with what im looking for

i dont have a compression tester but when pulling it over with the pugs in it, it is a workout so im sure they are good plus it did sound good when i got it

the motor is in decent condition just has oxidation on the outside, the carbs are clean inside (smell of turpentine) the slides have a mirror finish and no binding etc. the gas tank is plastic and has no problems and the seat could sell for a pretty penny on ebay its in mint condition just needs wiped down it was used on every model citation from 80 to 87 and a few other models as in the manuals i found online at ski doo website.. and alot of guys restoring old sleds are looking for them

ive even had offers on just the oil injection tank and pump, which i was gunna throw away and mix.. just cuz its more reliable than a 27 year old pump lol

my problem is i dont wanna spend money on it.. i paid for a running sled and got home and it wouldnt run..

i did find out you can hook 2 coils instead of 1, the cdi box has 2 power lines out that splice into 1 at the connector to the coil, and alot of guys with the citation ss do this since the 2 coil setup is more common and on every model from 80-83

Be carefull not ussing oil pumps. A lot of the time the pumps will oil bearings along with the fuel. Some models you will burn them up by removing the oil pump for mixed gas. Those pumps never fial for the most part. There is also dangers in mixing your own gas. I always leave the pumps. That DS80 I have is that way. Guys will plug off the oil line and mix there own gas. A few hours later the engine bearing burns up. You can remove the pump but you must drill a oil hole in the case. So do your home work when removing pumps.

I never had a oil pump or seen one that has not worked. I done many bikes with them. For some reason they just work.

The other reason I like the pumps is I do not have to have 5 different gas cans for 5 different toys that run on different mixes. Call me crazy but I thinkthey run better with the oil pumps.

yeah the oil pump is external on the outside of the the pull start. but yeah on my old dt100a it worked awesome but on the ski-doo forum people say get rid of them cuz they fail after a couple seasons (and this sled is older than a couple seasons lol) and thats why people like to buy them. and pay well too..

I've decided ill sell them both at $100 each, if that sounds good you can bring whatever testing tools you want and check them out..

Till me about the front end on that quad? It not a real double a arm right?

Can you borrow a compression tester and check it? I would just do it but you are 3 hours away. I have a spare coil from my 340 yamaha enticer twin sled. Or plug the spark plug hole with your finger. Tell me if it blows your finger off the hole when pressing as hard as you can?

I will take the sled for sure. even if it does not run when I get there. I can mess with it at home. If I cannot get it running I will just part it out.

Can we hook up this weekend? Or I might take friday off.

One more favor. Can you flip it on the side and take a pic under the sled? I am wanting a good shot of under the moter. For I will be cutting the frame out thats under the moter. Good shots of the frame/floor.

Thanks friend.

Edit. I may take the quad as well who knows.

You won't be able to see the framerails by flipping the sled over, there will be a bellypan in the way, however you can usually get decent views just from under the hood on older sleds.

Yes that what I want to see. I cut the whole belly pan and everything out? Or the floor or whatever you call it.

What you would be cutting out is called the bulkhead, which is protected underneath the sled by the chassis/body (usually aluminum or tin.)

I'm not sure on older sleds of that year, but on my ZR you can actually pull the entire bulkhead/engine cradle out after a few bolts...
