Im always wanting to clean parts, and usually dish soap and paper towels dont work too well.

So i looked at harbor freight. I saw this blast cabinet, and i thought it was a good deal. Then, reading the discription, it COMES with everything you need to sandblast, exept the beads, air hose, and compressor??

With the 20 off coupon they have a compressor it will support for $100. Ill get a warranty though.

Am i missing something, or is sandblasting alot cheaper than i thought?

Also, can i collect, filter if needed, and re use the beads?

Thank you for your help guys, tell me what you think.

Heres the link.

Sandblasting gear is never very expensive. Pressure pots (which are the best way to sandblast, IMHO) can be had for less than $100, and require about 1/3 less air. For example, this unit from Harbor Freight requires 6cfm @ 125psi, but you could easily get away with running it below that.

If you want the cabinet, be prepared to shell out BIG $$$ for a compressor. 10 cfm ain't cheap. I've seen 3 smaller compressors plumbed together into a large pony tank (it appeared to be an old 100lb propane tank) running a sandblaster. The guy who built that setup is a mad frenchman so I wouldn't reccomend copying any of his ideas, but it did work.

The nice thing about the cabinet is that 1) it doesn't make a huge mess everywhere, and 2) it captures and recycles your blasting media.

:iagree: Siphon blasters are prone to clogs(spent 30 minutes getting one unclogged the other weekend:mad2:). I may have to get one of those if the need arises.

hmmmm.............

good Review
by kert

went through with caulk before filling with media to seal off the seams inside of the cabinet-this is a must! I hooked it up to a 2 gallon? husky shop vac which works perfectly. Been running it with my HF 10 gallon compressor that is rated for 7.2 @40 and 5.6 cfm @ 90psi. Works well with this setup-been using 80 grit glass along with largest supplied gun nozzle. Very pleased with it. My only problem is that a 15 amp circuit can't power the shop vac and my compressor at the same time. 4 stars cause they are not sufficiently sealed out of the box

so its safe to use this?

The compressor from your link would run a 20lb pressure pot blaster all day long with no problems. If Kert the Bohunk says in his review that it will also run a 10cfm blast cabinet then by all means, copy his setup. Just remember, your mileage may vary. I think you'll cook that compressor trying to keep up to the cabinet's air demands. Buy the extended warranty!

You know..... You guys are so lucky.

I've never seen a sand blaster for less than $250 in Australia. Never seen a FCA welder (gassless MIG) for less than $320 and 6.5 clones don't go for less than $300.

Our dollar is stronger than yours too.

They won't take the 20% coupons on compressors anymore, same with engines, toolboxes, jacks and generators.
