um the cam makes the valaves opena nd close, maybe you mean the crank shadt. I think this could work, but i suppose you could need to make a keyway or a spline so they will spin togeather.

Geez! That'd take some MAD fabrication to do, but Harley BigTwins basically do it that way. The motor and tranny are separate- connected by a chain or toothed belt (customs). I used to have a Honda 90 motor that was shot, but the tranny/clutch was good. The idea crossed my mind to eliminate the rod/piston, hook a sprocket to the magneto side and then run that to a decent engine. Too complicated for my humble skill-level and garage, though.

for $200 you can get a brand new 110cc or more engine with 4 speed tranny that pushes my X18 to 50mph stock. probably sounds like alot of money to spend but if you figure a motor is about $100+ at harbor freight, a centrifugal clutch is $40 online and a blown bike motor with a working tranny is prolly gonna be $50 or more.

all of the sudden the total surpasses a new motor with a manual clutch that has 8hp (110cc) and goes to 7000rpm and has a 4 speed sequential shifter. pretty reliable too.

Yeah- those Lifan Motors are pretty neat. I'd love to have the 200cc 5 speed model to mess with, for sure! Lifan builds a streetbike based on that motor, and it hauls butt!
