ok, right now i am buildign a trike kart, it has a differential axle, set up for a torque converter, but its gonna eventually be a centrifical clutch, and a lot of other crap, i have a older kohler snowmobile engine for it, lotsa work and pics to come guys

the trike is reallly dirty, needs bearings in the front rim and tubes in all the tires, it is a realllllly interesting kart, i learn new things bout it every day

yah, but the one that can handle the power from this engine is sooooooooooo friggin expensive!

You will never get it's full potential on tires that big without one. Unless you have a crazy gear ratio. Then you'll be using all its power to take off and never hit the speeds that kind of power can make.

he will hit the speed with big tires fine, but he would have wayyyyyyy more power and speed with a tc

are you sure that you have a 40 series (i think it is that goes with 44 driver, right?) driven on there?

That differential looks a LOT like the one I installed in my kids' kart, came off an old lawn tractor. Do you know what that one is from?
Sure enough it'll help the steering, but you will likely be disapointed by it's traction performance, and I don't know if it'll take all that power without being eaten.
