WOW! Ironman, that is a thing of beauty! You're right, that's a different carb, huh? A word of caution (maybe Russ can back me up) That motor is meant to have a BUTTLOAD of air blowing over it- either by airplane prop, or a fan/shroud combo like a snowmobile engine. If you do get it fired up- don't run it too long until you're sure. There are snowmobile engines that run without fans (FreeAir) but if you notice, they have humongous fins all over them, and probably wouldn't do well unless the sled is moving. Again, SCOOOOOOOORRRRRRRE!

Actually, I think it should do fine without a fan.

If you really think you need one like if it gets really hot, you could just put a big air scoop on the side facing forward on your kart.

As for the carb, is it a float carb or diaphragm? I could help you more if I knew what kind it is. It kind of looks like a float to me, but I'm not sure.

If you want to avoid all the hassle of getting that carb to work though, you could get a 30-something mm Mikuni

Thats a diaphragm carb, gas isnt gonna come out unless the engine is running and the carb gets a vacuum pulse, I would have to gut the the thing myself to figure out the hookups.

^ Oh.

In that case the reason gas isn't coming out is because you need a pulse line hooked up to the crankcase and the engine has to be running.

I'll let russ explain the pulse line in more detail :arf:

Ok took carbs. all way apart i understand some now how. When you say pulse line im lost:confused: i know when i cover the intake with my hand it will start but can not keep running.so i see when the engine is running it suck the gas up threw the bowl but what type of filter are what would be the correct way to cover up the intake to get it to work right.i now know that these motors were used in the early 70's but find no info on them being use on urtlalite planes only a few times i see info on snowmibiles.motor sounding great when running

The pulse line is the one that you get when the engine creates a vacuum in the crankcase when the piston goes up, well you have to tap into the crankcase to get a line that does this.

Uh, I think that makes sense.

Hook the two unused hose barbs to some short hoses and stick them in the intake, hold your hand over it and try to start it. no need to tap the case, once you get the hookups figured you can just tap the intake manifold.

it has two already on there one is hook up to the back side of the carb and the other is plug off. all three motors are the same way.

there is one on the left and right side of the stamp if that is what you are talking about.

yes that one is hook up to the back side of the carb i wounder if this motor needs to be offset to about the 1 or 2 o'clock position that way the fuel would flow back in the intake.
