Zircon 150 evolution

I got this kart for essentially free. Can’t get the engine going so I am swapping it to a stage 1 Tillotson 212 with a 30 series. Looks like i ordered the axle 2” too big and i will have to widen the rear and to accommodate. Welder will be here some time today

You probably don’t need to widen, but it will lessen the chances of a bent axle. Sounds like a good excuse to buy a welder

Is there something wrong with the axle that is in there now? If it really is only 2"
longer, that is only 1" per side of extra unsupported weight. I don't think you have to worry about it. BTW, Very nice kart considering the price.

Yeah the axle was trashed. The left rear wheel snapped off at some point because someone welded it back together. (If you zoom in to picture 4/5 down on the floor next to the atv jack is the hub on the floor) The bearing on this side is also destroyed. Went on eBay and ordered a kit. I probably could have gotten exact replacement parts but then I wouldn’t get the fun of figuring out how to make it work! More pics later
