youtube down loads

trying to put a vidio on youtube (first time)

made an acount and all but all it does is take hours to download (no exagaration) then give up and tell me there is an error and i should make should it works on my computer (it does)

it is about 500mb and a MOV file (if that means anything)

id it too big or have i stuffed somthing up

I have a feeling that your movie is a bit large, but I haven't uploaded much before.

hey fowler, YT's upload rules are 2GB in size ( your cleared on that ) and 15 mins long.
If you keep uploading a new video 1-2 a week then the 15 min limit is lifted, but the 2GB stays. Also it does take a few hrs to upload a video. depending on the length 3-5 min can take about an hr ... 5-10 min about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs .... and over that, no telling. Upload speeds also depend on traffic of uploads at that time. In the 3 1/2 years I've been on YT the shortest time was 15 min .... the longest was 8 hrs.

make sure your using google chrome, internet explorer has problems, it can only be 15 minutes long and takes maybe 20 minutes

iv been meanming to change for some time (to stop my mate complaining)

the movie is only 4 min long

are you editing the video and saveing it , or just stuck it in you comuter from the camera and then trying to up load it to YT ??

The first time I uploaded a video was a guitar cover of sweet child of mine. That took well around an hour to upload. The next time. Went to upload I just opened the video in movie maker and then clicked publish. I pressed to you tube andd ir let me compress it to around 20 something mb and then I saved it to my pc. I went to you tube and uploaded as normal and it only took around a minute or 2.

thats where youve made your mistake, download google chrome, sign in and try it, it wont take so long

A different browser isnt gonna make that big of a difference.

The longest its taken for me to upload something is like 45 minutes. And that was a 5 minute HD video.

it makes a big diffrence, i couldnt upload anything on explorer, google chrome it took me 10 minutes for a 7 minute video

Ya google chrome has a little program in it ( cant remember the name) that alows for a faster download to YT. it use to be seperate and something that you could download yourself and use it with IE/ FireFox ect. ..... BUT Google removed it from YT and made it an attachment to chrome to help promote it. I prefer the old school way .... but like with ALL of googles services they will eventualy force it on everyone by saying " the only way to upload videos to YT is to download chrome and use that as your operating browser for uploads "

well my mate recomnded fire fox so i got that
it improved the internet in general

then rather than say 800mins left then failing it uploaded it in 200min and ill post the result up here (that was the intention)

i dout i will ever be able to upload as fast as u lot from the US becasue mine is just one of those prepaid plug and go sticks
